it seems like, after i 've started to do healthy diet, then bad foods start to appear in my life. is it that i noticed them more ? or that i "attracted" them into my life? People offer food to me often. They offer cakes, chips, deep fried pastry, sweet drinks, whatever. and sometimes, when i feel down, i just crave for comfort foods. I manage to keep to my minimum standard of a) total abstinence from alcohol b) maximum of one meal with meat (i keep to this 85% of time) c) one fruit a day (i adhere 90% of time) d) abstianence from spicy foods (ooh, i give in when i'm in bad mood, once a week) e) total abstinence from coffee and tea (yay!) i wonder if i should still congratulate myself. because i used to have meat in EVERY MEAL. and i never ate fruit. do you find it hard to stay away from bad foods?? I think the more accurate analysis is how much of your eating is at home compared to outside? For example, I would estimate that in my own case, 90% of my eating is at home and I don't have any junk foods at home on purpose. So when I'm out, although I try to stick to healthy, I won't really worry that much if I'm out socializing and the only food available is not as healthy as what I have at home. Because of my overall healthy diet throughout time, I don't worry about any 'bad' foods that I happen to come across when I'm out. As for fruits, I personally have at least 2 and quite often, 3 servings of it per day. |

I would increase amount of fruit from 1 to 10. Also your list of standards is pretty cool. I hope you have not eliminated caffeine-free herbal teas, as many are potent sources of antioxidants (African Rooibos tea, for example) You probably just notice the bad foods more. I had a hard time at first avoiding junk foods that seemed to be everywhere. They are like a bully they will go away if you ignore them. |

I have noticed this as well. When you're making a positive change in your life, encountering resistance will most definitely happen. You will be tempted, take it as a sign that you're on the right track. Instead of giving in to the temptation, thank it for giving you the opportunity to grow even further. Challenge yourself, you're doing great! |
