When Dr Oz says something that people disagree with, they say that he is an idiot. But he is a very visible doctor. Say a police officer had a TV show and said that if you do not want to be raped, then do not dress like a shut. That would be the end of his TV show immediately, lest a boycott of the TV station puts them out of business!

A cop did say this to some law students and protest marches all over the world have resulted. The Slutwalkers march will take place in New York on October 1, 2011.

People who refute the China Study are so yesterday like refuting the theory of the sun orbiting the earth. Earlier I made a joke about Roger Ebert. Here is what he said: "A Film that Can Save Your Life" not make you look as good as him-- that was humor therapy. They should be refuting Forks Under Spoons and Over Knives. While some might view the lower-budget Forks over Knives as a long-form commercial for veganism, Fulkerson's evidence supporting the benefits of a plant-based diet is too compelling to dismiss (and he never claims that a small piece of cheese ever killed anyone). The filmmaker builds his case around the work of two doctors who grew up on farms where cow's milk was considered "nature's perfect food," as Dr. T. Colin Campbell puts it, and went into different fields of medicine, but their research led them to the same conclusion.

For 20 years, Cornell University nutritional biochemist Campbell focused on China, where degenerative disease rates skyrocketed with the increased consumption of meat and dairy. By contrast, Japan and Kenya, where the fare is leaner, have experienced far fewer incidences of such illnesses. As a surgeon, Cleveland Clinic's Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, an Olympic Gold Medalist for rowing, also witnessed the results of a dependence on animal-based and processed foods: heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some forms of cancer. When his patients eliminated these items, they experienced significant improvement.

Several appear on screen, along with Dr. Neal Barnard, Junshi Chen (collaborator on Campbell's China Study)--even mixed martial artist Mac Danzig. An opening title cautions that the film should not serve as a substitute for medical advice, but it certainly provides helpful information for anyone concerned about their health. --Kathleen C. FORKS OVER KNIVES examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the so-called "diseases of affluence" that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods. The major storyline in the film traces the personal journeys of a pair of pioneering yet under-appreciated researchers, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.

Here is where Dr Oz endorses this and the China Syndrome study or the China Study for short. "The term China syndrome (loss-of-coolant accident) describes a nuclear reactor operations accident characterized by the severe meltdown of the core components of the reactor, which then burn through the containment vessel and the housing building, then notionally through the crust and body of the Earth until reaching China.[1][2]"

Oscar Wilde said that the truth is rarely pure and never simple. I have a feeling that there may well be something in the China study, but it is being presented in a way that is far too simplistic. The modern diet clearly has shortcomings and I think we have a lot to learn to improve it. But let's not forget the key observation which is that people are living longer and healthier lives than ever before. While it might well need improving, it can't be that bad. And lets not forget that China is currently changing on a scale and speed that no country in history has ever done. It is a fascinating story and something to watch closely. But it does mean that there is a lot that is going on there might not be applicable anywhere else.

Anyone reading the description is going to be turned off by the apparent assumed link between animal-based and processed foods. This seems at first glance to be very unscientific. I hope that they differentiate between the two.

A horrible analogy. In this case, you say when people disagree with Dr. Oz, they call him an idiot. You are giving a blanket statement over everything he says people disagree with.

If a cop were to make that claim, he IS AN IDIOT. Many many women are raped, even when they are dressed conservatively. That officer deserves to have his TV show canceled, because that statement is completely untrue and gives perverts the "excuse" that it is okay to rape women they think are dressed slutty. And is that protest actually called "Slutwalkers" or are you calling them that to mock them and think it is okay to rape women you deem dressed as sluts?

I do not understand what you were saying about it being a horrible analogy. I was trying to show that Dr Oz is not an idiot since he has a TV show by giving an example of what an idiot really was.

A cop in Toronto was giving a lecture to college law students and said this. So he single handedly created a new femist movement. Before he said it he said "I am not supposed to say this." What a moron?

They are trying to reclaim the word 'slut' and make it a good word. The word 'queer' used to be derogatory. The slutwalk in NYC is on October 1, 2011. My best friend is an 18 year old woman and she will be there.
