I used to spend about $150 to $200 per month on groceries.

I discovered that it's not THAT much more expensive to eat out than it is to buy groceries when you live alone, though. You just can't go to sit down restaurants every night. But you can do things like Subway and stuff like that about as cheap as you can buy groceries (without all the time spent cooking and cleaning up or worrying about leftovers).

I havent budgeted my food ever since I became single again last year and it feels great! My income is so unstable that it would be a pointless exercise anyway.

I get that it's a good idea to save up for stuff or experiences. But I'd rather not get exposed to the scarcity mindset that comes with it.
