Post Can't Lose Weight? The Problem May Surprise You.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to share my own personal experience with losing weight and recovering from years of poor habits and treating my body like I didn't even care. Mostly back in the college days.

For years I had tried everything to lose weight and get healthy again. I tried countless weight loss programs, exercise regimens, pills, fasts, doctor visits, you name it.

For me, none of them never worked and were far too complicated and expensive to keep me motivated.

The problem was at the time, I wasn't aware of what was REALLY causing the problem. My metabolism just wasn't normal and losing weight was just NOT happening no matter how much effort I put in.

I was determined to find an answer and in my research, found that the liver is the main organ which is responsible for maintaining a healthy metabolism and burning off excess body fat.

I also learned that pretty much everything we eat in today's society contains harmful chemicals and toxins which do nothing but bog down the liver. This is because everything you eat and drink must first go through the liver for digestion.

This wonderful organ is responsible for filtering out these toxins and chemicals inside your body. When it isn't functioning properly due to years of abuse, it just can't do its job correctly.

I decided to do everything in my power to cleanse my liver and see what happened.

I can proudly say that this was the answer I was looking for. When it finally started to get healthy and clean again, my excess body weight just seemed to melt away on its own!

I also started to get massive increases in energy and my sense of wellness just went up and up!

I am writing this post because I've seen many threads here about weight loss and how people are struggling to lose weight.

I've been there before, and taking action and healing my liver truly was my answer.

It didn't involve any fancy diet programs, expensive trainers, gym passes, or ANYTHING like that.

I just found a liver cleanse supplement that felt right for me, stuck with it, and learned which foods were harming my liver, and stopped eating them.

Of course, you should still do some exercise. But it doesn't have to be complex.

Just do something you ENJOY doing.

Not everyone enjoys the same workouts. For me, I really enjoy doing yoga, basketball, and I have this mini trampoline that works really well that I use.

The rest literally just took care of itself.

I hope this helps, I truly encourage you to look more into the importance of the liver and its many functions outside of just burning body fat.

Many of our health problems today are directly related to poor liver function, obesity just happens to be one of the big ones.

Here's some sources for further reading if desired:

Taking care of your liver is important. But that doesn't mean you can suddenly gorge on all the fatty foods and junk foods that you want and not expect to gain any weight. You will gain weight with more fat intake.

As for exercise, yes it doesn't have to be complex and one should do the activities that one enjoys. You have a nice mix of cardio with basketball and mini-tramp plus yoga will do well for flexibility. I would still add in some form of weight bearing exercise though.

This would be especially important for women these days who start losing bone mass in their early 30s. Weight bearing exercise will at least counter balance this natural bone loss. Men will get this too but later in life. Therefore strength training will be beneficial to both men and women.

I don't recall saying you can gorge on fatty and junk foods lol.

I'm getting the exact results I need with my current exercise regimen. I was just sharing what worked best for me in regards to getting healthy again and losing weight, I wasn't asking for advice but thanks anyway

Default I Don't Want Muscles

I've always stayed away from weights because I'm naturally a big girl and while I like being toned, muscles would only make things worst. I do cardio walking, volley balls and stretching but I'm relying on supplements for augmenting any bone loss I might have. Any thoughts or suggestions on whatelse I could do?

Light weights with higher repetitions won't make things worse for you. Consults with both your doctor and a fitness trainer will be able to set you up with a program that's optimized for you. I know for a fact that the ob/gyn associations are strongly urging strength training for all women - I worked with them during my years in pharma. But you don't have to take my word for it - just ask your doctor.

Right now 40,000 Americans need a liver transplant. Most will not get one and die.

I have one word for the above-- Acetaminophen (like in Tylenol).
Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain from headaches, muscle aches, menstrual periods, colds and sore throats, toothaches, backaches, and reactions to vaccinations (shots), and to reduce fever. Acetaminophen may also be used to relieve the pain of osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by the breakdown of the lining of the joints). Acetaminophen is in a class of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers)

Paracetamol toxicity is caused by excessive use or overdose of the analgesic drug paracetamol (called acetaminophen in North America).

Paracetamol toxicity is the foremost cause of acute liver failure in the Western world.

Absolutely true.

Very important input, it's not just things like Tylenol however, virtually all of the man-made pills our garbage healthcare system puts out are destroying our livers.

If I may, lift. Lift heavy. (Clint may disagree, but that's what we're here for, to disagree) Muscles burn fat and muscles make you look "toned" when the fat is gone. Unless you're popping testosterone you will not end up looking like a body builder. It's a myth that women shouldn't lift. Some of the hottest girls I know can lift heavier than me. My chemistry teacher from high school goes to the same gym as me. She can outdo me in every olympic lift and she is better looking now than when I was in school, twelve years ago.

Plus lifting makes me (and maybe you) feel awesome.

Also, to the OP, if you're talking about hormones that help lose weight, my opinion would be that you need to talk about insulin too. Just eating foods that are "clean" is going to not only detoxify your liver but will also help moderate your insulin level (or you wouldn't lose weight).

I don't disagree at all. I think lifting weights should be part of everyone's routine not only for muscle toning but also for bone health. As for lifting heavy vs lifting light, it depends on the sport, if one is training for a sport.

For martial arts, I lifted heavy for the power. For skiing, I lift for reps so I can last longer on the slopes. So both have their uses.

Another cause for an inability to lose weight is an underactive thyroid. The liver comes into play here as well, as it's responsible for converting the hormones sent to it by the thyroid, and if it's not doing this effectively, you'll have problems. The pituitary and hypothalamus glands also work with the thyroid, so it can get very tricky to diagnose the exact cause of the problem.

If you're fatigued, wake up with headaches, run a low body temperature (< 97.8°F) and are always cold, you probably have a hypothyroid condition.

Yes you're correct. Your liver is what helps maintain your insulin levels, so you can see why a stressed, overworked liver gets you on all levels.

Yep, 100% correct! Thanks for the great input. It really is amazing how much your liver is responsible for, and how all other organs in the body suffer when it's not functioning like it should be.

This is why it's a wise move to do a liver cleanse every now and then, to remove toxic buildup within the liver so it can start doing its job better.

Hi guys, we're all here on the Law of Attraction forums, and guess what, I think you all manifested the answers you needed.

In my family, the problem is heart attacks. I am now necessarily a relatively sedentary woman, and I discovered/manifested Dr. Steven Gundry. I have lost 16 pounds in one month, and my blood pressure and heart rate have dropped to a comfortable rate, and my arthritic ankle is no longer causing pain.

I am glad that you all have manifested what you needed for you, and hope that you continue to do so with whatever you need.

Also - another great activity is to try yoga - it's just using your own body weight. Sometimes people think weight lifting causes weight gain only because the muscles will temporarily hold onto water. That doesn't mean the muscles are a lot bigger though. Also, if your diet is high in carbohydrates you need to remember that for every carb you eat you retain 3 extra grams of water weight. So in part it could be water weight as well.

This is great advice, thank you!

A few years back, I did the fat flush diet, and my body changed very rapidly, not so much that I dropped weight, but my skin appearance and tonicity changed drastically - cellulite disappeared in a matter of 6 weeks and I looked radiant and much younger.

Unfortunately, I couldn't sustain it and went back to bad habits, one of them, drinking wine. Plus I stopped taking Milk Thistle.

One thing to look at is the Adrenals as well. I've been suffering for Adrenal Exhaustion for years, but always thought I was being "lazy" because I had no energy...Stress =Excessive cortisol = bloating; which explains why I gained water weight.

Yeah I love Milk Thistle. Such a great herb for liver support.

Thanks for sharing your experience, that's interesting about the adrenals, great input!

Great advice in this thread. Thank you all. I have a friend who is doing his second liver cleanse right now and he's had amazing results. He was having a lot of problems with fatigue before, but since doing the first cleanse he had an enormous increase in energy.

If I'm 5'10 (female) and 140 lbs by eating a **** ton of junk food and candy every day (I go to sleep right after pigging out on 4 chocolate bars, 2 bags of chips, and a bunch of Slim Jims, and that wasn't even dinner) - and I jump on this squeaky-white-glove-test-clean liver bandwagon (aka not eating **** and moving my ass more), can I still expect to lose weight?

I'm not technically overweight, but I'm not as slim as I'd like to be. I'm only 21, so hopefully switching over to healthy will lean me out a little bit.

Or is this only applicable to actual fat people?

EDIT: I don't don't don't want any visible muscles. I'm after the delicate supermodel look - but only if I can get closer to it without doing anything unhealthy.

If that's been a regular diet for you, then a liver cleanse would benefit you very very much.

If you're considering eating healthier foods and wanting to lose a little weight, then I would definitely recommend it!

Great story. Mind sharing exactly how long it took you to lose the weight, how much weight you lost, whether or not you gained it back, etc?

Default Can’t Lose Weight? It's Probably Your Metabolism!

Some of you are finding that despite proper eating and exercise you simply cannot lose the extra weight. There are a number of metabolic processes contributing to this and when you treat them the weight will often begin to disappear! Many of the factors contributing to weight gain in these syndromes also affect the rest of us. These are the most common ones:
1. Hypothyroidism.
2. Nutritional deficiencies.
3. Poor sleep.
4. Yeast overgrowth
5. Another major problem is carnitine deficiency.
6. Adrenal stress support.
7. Insulin Resistance.
