I've been playing with the idea of doing a slow carb diet to lose a few pounds and fit into some old clothes. Has anyone done this? Any tips? |

Immediate thought: why do you want to lose a few pounds, have you been gaining a lot of weight? Your body is maturing and that's normal. You might just be changing shape a little. I'd say let it happen, unless you have some dramatic and unexplained weight gain, or you know the weight gain is from stuff like being sedentary/bad eating. A few pounds here and there is very normal, I've been idly meandering within a 7 pound range ever since I was 13. But on my frame that's enough that the jeans at the bottom won't fit at the top any more. Well, there's my unsolicited opinion, knowing nothing about slow carb. |

I prefer myself thinner. And honestly, at this point, I can't say if the reason is "healthy" or "unhealthy", because I can't deny the effect of social conditioning on my self-perception. However, it's not obviously unhealthy or damaging me right now. I appreciate your concern, Criseyde, even in the form of an unsolicited opinion. I gained about 15 lbs in the last year and a half or so. I've been told my frame carries it fine by a few people, and like you said it's pretty normal at my age. I've had hips since about 11 or 12, but I used to have a flatter stomach. | |

Yes, it is very doable. Just stop believing any of the stuff that floats around there about cholesterol, and have eggs as well. You can even add a protein shake to your morning meal to get to the 30g of protein. The basics of this diet is repetition. Eat the same thing over and over again so you don't have think about what to eat and you know exactly what is in this meal. (and have your cheat days! Very important. Without them you won't lose any weight!!). Eggs with veggies in the morning, beans with veggies in the afternoon and lentils with veggies in the evening. Should be doable... If you go for store bought soup and beans, have a look at which brand has the least amount of salt. |
