Default 6 Habits That Can Add Years To Your Life

This is an excellent article by David Katz M.D. about living longer.

David Katz, M.D.: 6 Habits That Can Add Years To Your Life
As you might expect, discussion with this [cancer] patient was far-ranging. He wanted to know about everything he could do to bend fate and probability in his favor. So, naturally, we discussed both conventional medical therapies such as drugs (there is no clear role for them in his case), and nutrient/botanical supplements (these might contribute some benefit, discussed below).

But three principal considerations drove this discussion, as they should drive any discussion about intervening to prevent future disease: risk/benefit trade-offs; the magnitude of any likely effect; and the quality of underlying evidence.

Those three considerations drove our discussion inevitably in the direction of the Super 6: feet, forks, fingers, sleep, stress and love.

Good post. It always amazes me how much time and energy the medical community spends researching to find that elusive "cure for cancer".

Instead, the answer is so simple--take better care of yourself! There's a reason cancer rates are ASTRONOMICALLY higher in America than in other countries-unhealthy lifestyles.

It would be nice if they could find some magic cure and we never had to worry about taking care of ourselves. But that's never going to happen. Anyway, thanks for the article!

Healthy people die of cancer too. To imply that the reason people get cancer is because they don't take care of themselves, is insulting.

Take a chill pill. All I was saying is that in general, the instances of cancer are FAR fewer with people who take care of themselves than those who don't. Check out 100 years of cancer history - GotApex? Forums for more.

My point was that the medical community makes us believe there's NOTHING we can do about cancer, and it's all in our genetics. That is clearly not true. Diet and exercise, among other factors, play a huge role as well.
