Default Eyesight improvement- Any success stories?

I have poor vision all my life. It is getting worse. I would be keen to hear from anyone who had improved their eyesight and how they did it.

I own this book:

Amazon.com: Improve Your Vision Without Glasses or Contact Lenses: Books: Steven M. Beresford,David W. Muris,Merril J. Allen,Francis A. Young

I haven't started using it yet, but I will definitely do so. I've already read it, and I believe it works. I think it is amazing and very interesting read.

Thanks Jiri Novotny! Sounds like a great book.

I have a couple of books on Natural Vision Improvement which, after one read, have sat on my bookshelf for years. The reason I started this thread is because I wanted inspiration to practise the exercises.

Perhaps we could be "vision buddies". Have a 30 day challenge to take a particular vision improvement action, which we will decide upon.

Interested?

Yeah, perhaps we could do it together.

There is 30 minute therapy that should be done in that book, but that is too big commitment for me at the moment. However, there are also 7 easy excercises that I can do on my way to/from school (and in school too), which I've decided to practice for at least 15 minutes every day. When my time allows (probably school holidays), I will be doing the therapy as well. But I do not really need a 30 day trial for this as I am sure it works and I won't practically lose any time doing it.

BTW, I keep a spreadsheet with various column of things I want to do *every* day, so I am pretty sure I won't miss one. That's why I am so serious about starting doing other things, because I won't be able to miss a single day

Jiri Novotny what are the 7 exercises you are doing?

escapee, thankyou for that info. It is interesting that I have been struggling with sugar addiction throughout my life. The longest I have gone without a skeric is eleven and a half months. I have tried various approaches. I am currently addressing it from a number of angles. Thanks

Carol Look has conducted a vision improvement experiment using EFT. She wrote up the results to the experiment - you can read more about it at Emofree: The results of Carol Look's eyesight experiment

And if you do a search at Emofree on "vision", you'll find a lot of other articles.

I haven't actually tapped on vision improvement myself, though. But I've been seeing some results using the Natural Vision Improvement Kit - (it's at Amazon but I picked it up at Costco for a lot less). I haven't done very many of the exercises, either - but it's the far-seeing one that seems to be working (since that's the main one that I've been doing). In that exercise, you take five to ten minutes per hour, and focus on three or four points that are at least seven feet away from you, using a "soft focus", which means you're not trying to see clear details and you're using your peripheral vision, too. You just go from point to point over the five to ten minute period. I've also been doing the cupping exercise, where you cup your palms over your eyes and relax.

I did EFT for my vision one time, and saw quite an improvement. Interestingly, my vision stopped short of perfect (for distance). I continued to try the EFT that day until the thought came to me "I don't want to see far into the future". This was during a discouraging time in my life when the future did not look very pleasant (oh, things have since improved vastly).

So you might want to explore emotional issues too.

Make a conscious intention to blink frequently. Apparently when we are working at the computer, we don't blink as often as we normally do. Blinking is a natural form of exercise for our eyes.

Default thanks a million BelleEnchanted

BelleEnchanted thanks so much for directing me to Carol Looks amazing eyesight experiment website! I am so excited to find out about EFT.
Sounds like most people don't have the follow thru to do the exercises for long enough to get results.
Now I know that there is a high chance of success I will make a point of giving myself a challenge to do eye exercises each day for 8 weeks.
Just got to research exactly WHAT I should do for those 8 weeks...

Aldous Huxley was almost blind and recovered his vision using the Bates method. Huxley went on to write an inspiring book based on his experience called:

Amazon.com: The Art of Seeing: Books: Aldous Huxley

Tens of thousands of people have improved their vision using Bates principles. The most comprehensive book I've seen on the subject is

Amazon.com: Relearning to See: Improve Your Eyesight -- Naturally!: Books: Thomas R. Quackenbush

I've been doing some of the relaxations and good eye habits and have had a noticable improvement in my vision

Good luck

I have the second book, but it's so many pages. I already read it once, but forgot most of it. If you could summarize what you got from that book that you use on a daily basis in like a paragraph you would be my hero. I've been planning to re-read it for awhile.

Thanks

Default a paragraph on healthy vision

Erock,

There are three principles of healthy vision: movement, centralization, and relaxation. Basically it means use the central part of your vision, as opposed to your peripheral vision, and let your eyes stay in a playful and relaxed, yet active and dynamic state. These principles give rise to three healthy eye habits. The first is "sketching". To sketch, shift your eyes from point to point like you are drawing what your eyes see with two long pencils attached to your eyeballs. Your head and eyes should be moving all day long like energetic puppies playing in a lawn. If you do alot of reading it is helpful to scan your eyes back to the next line in the white space between the lines. (messes up the photo reading though ). The second habit is breathing. Full diaphramatic breathing encourages dynamic, parasympathetic relaxation and prevents staring. The third habit is blinking. Train yourself to blink often 15-30 times per second. This lubricates, massages and relaxes the eyes (especially important for computer users).

good luck

Thanks a ton. I really appreciated this. I must have fallen asleep like 20 times reading that book and when I finally got to the end I thought, what did I learn?

You made my day and probably improved my vision

Default Nvi

Hi guys,

I am currently trying to improve my vision with EFT and the Bates Method. I have the "Improve your Eyesight with EFT" e-book from Carol Look, I've only just started tapping for the first week so I'll have to see how it goes yet .

If you like to read the original Better Eyesight magazines from Wiliam Bates and some of his books and articles for free go here: Home - www.Central-Fixation.com

There are some natural vision improvement forums as well:

Imagination Blindness - A Site Dedicated to the Bates Method of Natural Vision Improvement

Outlook Insight - About

I have loads of other natural vision improvement links, so if you need more info just send me a PM .

Good luck to you all!
Regards,
Anne

Other than that one EFT person, has anyone here gotten results from these techniques? You usually hear about people asking if other people have gotten results, but you usually don't hear about people getting results.

Well elai I have been breathing deeply, blinking, sketching and consciously loosening my shoulders as xuggested by the various resources given in response to this thread, and yesterday I had to take my glasses off when I was talking to my friend, so I could see her better!
I thought it would take a lot more effort to get a noticeable result. I realise seeing is a habit and I can choose different seeing habits. I will have to have an eye test so I can be scientific about my improvement and let you know my progress!
Thanks to all who shared resoures

Yeah I've improved my eyesight by about 1 dioptre by using EFT on my emotional stuff. I have read many books on Natural Vision Improvement (NVI) but am now convinced that the main reason we get poor vision is because our bodies are very obediant to our minds.

Having had a traumatic childhood, my mind decided that seeing too well only gave you bad things to look at. I was very fearful. I became short-sighted.

That improved in the last couple of years when I applied EFT to a few of my childhood issues. I started by thinking of my eyesight directly and using EFT on the circumstances of my life before I first got glasses. This was shortly after my Mum got together with my ex-stepfather. I tapped on many issues around that and my real father etc, and my eyesight improved immediately. I've since tapped on a few other issues that were (in hindsight) related and each time my vision has improved immediately. Put this together with wearing weaker glasses, and resting my eyes by not wearing glasses when I don't need to and I've improved a lot.

I've asked quite a few people who suffer poor vision, either longsighted or shortsighted, what was happening for them immediately before they first got glasses, and ALL OF THEM had traumatic events.

So guys? Is this the case for you? What was happening for you before you first got glasses?

My favourtite NVI book is by Jacob Lieberman, Take off your glasses and SEE!

Carol Look is worth a visit, but you can also do the EFT for yourself anyway. Check my website for a quick guide.

Love to you
Hazel

At first I was like "nah, nothing really TRAUMATIC happended in my life" but then I realized that I first got glasses shortly after starting school. Which I suppose could have been pretty traumatic for me since I wasn't exactly socially successful there.

I posted in another thread that my new mantra is "Everywhere I look I see wonderful things." I've been on it about a week and am curious to see if it will affect my vision. My vision seemed clearer than usual when I woke up this morning, but it's hard to tell (I'm about -6.5).

Default diet

Not to be another raw food drone, but I thought I'd chime in. I'm 21, and have worked on the computer for many hours a week for as long as I can remember. About 5 years ago, I got a vision test and was given a glasses prescription for reading.

I have been eating an all-raw food diet for 6 months, and have seen a noticeable improvement in my vision that goes beyond placebo. Colours seem more vivid, I can change focus depth much quicker without having to strain my eyes.

When walking with friends, I can see the street and streetcar signs from much farther back.

I'm a college drummer, and I stopped wearing my glasses while reading music. Usually when I turned away from the page and went back, I would have trouble finding my spot and refocusing again without glasses. Now I don't notice that problem.

The most significant piece of evidence for me was 2 weeks ago. I have been getting a medical exam done so I can perform on a cruise ship. Part of the tests included an eye exam. I stood back 20 ft, and started reading the second line up from the chart. I got the line perfect. I didn't know I was doing well, until the doc told me that I had 20/13 vision. This means that what most people have to be 13ft away to see, I can see 20 feet away. Needless to say, I felt like superman

To clarify, I didn't switch to raw food to restore my vision. It was just a pleasant side effect. I also haven't tried to do any eye exercises that I often read about.

I strongly believe that eating raw plant foods has corrected my minor vision weaknesses.

I was a big fan of EFT, not anymore ....sodd that for a laugh

I used eye laser surgery many years ago and it worked like magic

Only took 7-10 mins for each eye. No pain just instant clear sight!
Good luck!
