Default Food Intolerance Testing

I've been to so many doctors, and I'm not having much luck with conventional medicine helping me with my various reactions to food. I'm considering getting a hair analysis done to test for intolerances to food, but they're expensive, so I only want to do it if it's going to be worth while (given how much my medical bills have already wracked up to - and are achieving next to nothing!).

Has anyone done one of these hair-analysis tests for food intolerance, and did they find it worthwhile?

You could keep a food log and eliminate certain foods to see if it makes any difference. Have you tried cutting out foods containing gluten? Many people have issues with gluten. And milk proteins (casein). Might be helpful to see a nutritionist instead of a medical doctor. MD´s have next to no understanding of nutrition and fix everything with drugs.

Hi polly

I've had a hair analysis done and it was a complete waste of time and money. By browsing online I found various conditions that manifest as food intolerances and then found a specialist dietician who has advised me on what I can and can't eat. Can you tell me what foods you react to and how? I have lactose, gluten, fructose, histamine intolerances and salicylate sensitivity. I might be able to guide you. Like you, doctors had not a clue as to how to help me and knew nothing about most of the conditions that I have. And of course it was suggested that it was all in my mind!

I haven't had hair analysis but I have been tested for allergies through kinesiological muscle testing and it was quite accurate and effective and very quick.

How it works: a holistic doctor or nutritionist holds a bottle containing possible allergens up to your elbow as you press your thumb and pinkie together. If the doc can pull your fingers apart, you are allergic to the substance. If your fingers stay strong and remain together, you are not allergic to it.

The nutritionist didn't tell me what was in the bottle, so I know my mind is not involved in the process. The test revealed I was allergic to milk & cheese, which I already knew. I was not sensitive to gluten though, which came as a surprise to me.

PM me if you need more info! xo

Hi Polly.

My eldest son had an allergy. We thought it was IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) but after seeing this video: Lactose intolerance. we realised it my by lactose intolerance. Went to the GP and realised that's what it was.

While doctors may not have a clue about nutrition and food intolerances and will simply throw drugs at you, some nutritionists act the same way with low-quality supplements. For instance, my brother went to a nutritionist many years back and came home with GMO soy protein supplements and a whole bunch of other crappy, preservative-laced obscure synthetics. It seemed like this nutritionist was more a front for the supplement company than an actual practicing expert.
