Default What are the Benefits of a Green Vegetable-Only Diet?

What are the benefits of eating a diet that consists only of raw green vegetables and raw green fruits, and drinking purified water as the only beverage? By 'raw green vegetables and raw green fruits', I mean only eating foods such as raw taro leaves, raw green bell peppers, raw broccoli, and raw zucchini squash. I have only listed four vegetables/fruits because, for some reason, I feel that these are the best vegetables/fruits to consume. The reason I am asking what the benefits are is because I cannot find a legitimate website that lists all of the benefits of consuming such a diet.

Default Alkalizing

Eating raw green fruits and vegetables would be the key to alkalizing your blood.A Healthy alkaline blood level on a scale of 1 to 14 would be 7.25; slightly alkaline.

The majority of Americans live an acidic lifestyle. Their diets consist of mainly acid producing foods like processed foods and sugary sweet things. This creates all kind of disease in the body.

You still might want to consider eating red and yellow fruits and vegetables as well as green. There are certain vitamins and minerals that pertain to the different colors of fruit.

This sounds very specific.

Are you interested to know the benefits of eating living foods in general (which would include nuts/vegetables/fruits/seeds) or are you just wanting to know about only eating FRUITS and VEGETABLES and no nuts, etc?

You'll starve.

Why, specifically, do you want to eat only those?

I was just curious to know what benefits there would be by only eating green fruits/vegetables and only drinking purified water. The reason why I am curious to know is because I have done water-fasting before and did notice benefits from it. However, I have lately noticed that whenever I eat a healthy diet (less toxic diet), my physical health gets better but then my emotional health goes down, and vice-versa. I guess I am wanting to go back on a strict diet and have it give me the benefits that it is supposed to give. In other words, purifying my mind, body and soul should not be a trade off between physical/emotional health; it should increase my physical and emotional health simultaneously.

Sounds like you may miss some nutrients in that very strict diet though...

I am wondering if the lowering of your emotional health is part of the process of becoming clear. Like, you might not be as in touch with negative thoughts & feelings if you're medicating them with unhealthy food, so when your diet clears up, those feelings come to the surface. They're there for you to heal, not just dismiss, and healing them will take awareness & conscious effort.

Given time, your emotional health will also go up, because you've cleared that "stuff" out of your system - but it's not automatic.

The benefits would be if you wanted to have basically a low carb diet (for a vegan) that could be very detoxicfying.
You may feel the emotional disconnect due to withdrawl from the not soo healthy foods. Also, you maybe still looking for something to provide that rush that they used to, which is why people often start exercising for more endorphines.
Also are you talking having a juice detox or a long term diet here?

That would be because a long-term diet consisting only of those foods would be fatal. You physically can't eat enough of them to get enough calories. Green bell peppers, for instance, have about 200 calories per kilo. If you need 2000 calories a day, that's 10 kilos, or 22 pounds. Other greens are similar - zucchini actually has slightly less calories by weight, and broccoli less still. Water has no calories.

This is why raw food diets include foods which have more calories for a given amount of weight - you can eat fruit, or nuts, but you need to have more calories than you can get from greens alone.

You might start to look and feel like Chef Sal at Evolve with Flavor (Even if you're 73)

And you CAN make this diet delicious as well.

People tend to think in "Green Vegetables" or "Green Drinks," but that's mostly MARKETING speak.

Hey there!

I've thought about trying a similar diet, and I know people are saying you'll miss out on key nutrients, but I'm almost positive you wouldn't as long as you added the RIGHT green foods.

You have your vegetables/fruits which will be a regular part of your diet :
Spinach
Lettuce (NOT Iceberg Lettuce, it's almost void of nutrition)
Broccoli
Kiwi
Peppers (Hot and Sweet)
Cucumbers
Honeydew (Assuming you mean green of all shades, not just dark green)
Green Onions

(I know there's a ton I'm missing)

THEN, you have your green superfoods, which will provide massive amounts of vitamins (in addition the fruits and vegetables) :

Spirulina - COMPLETE Protein (and the #1 protein source in the world, btw)
Chlorella - Another high protein green micro-algae
AFA Blue Green Algae - Another high protein blue-green micro-algae
Kelp - I don't know TOO much about this stuff, but It's definitely good for you, as well as other seaweeds.

So if you include something like Spirulina in your diet as a protein source, you should be able to not only live off of a green-only diet, but actually THRIVE off of it.

Do some research before you jump into such a diet, but I definitely see it being more than possible.

Good luck
