If you check, you will find that the best food to break a fast with is fruit. So now you are wondering what that has to do with your question. Did you know that you fast everyday for about 10 hours. If you do not eat anything 2 hours before going to sleep and sleep 8 hours, that adds up to 10 hours. Now when you stop the fast, you break the fast. So for short, it is break-fast that you are asking about. Fruit is pre-digested food so your stomach does not have to digest it. Even though it is spelled break-fast, it is promounced more like brek-fist. |

A nice warm bowl of apple and cinnamon oatmeal. Celery and peanut butter. Bagel with peanut butter and jelly. Fruit is always good: apples, oranges, watermelon, blue berries, raspberries. I think a person naturally knows what's good for them and what makes them feel good. I mean, at this point, you should probably know that a McDonald's cheeseburger isn't the way to go for breakfast, nor steak, etc. Just think about the past, and what was a good breakfast that you had, something that left you energized. |

Fruit. Lots of fruit. You can eat hard fruit, too. (The hard fruit is nuts.) But those are a little harder on your digestive system. So soak them first. You want to be easy on your digestive system in the morning, and you also want to give yourself simple, easy energy. (I generally combine fruit with nuts and various other things in a blender, but the bulk of it is fruit.) |

I'm a big fan of protein in the morning. The best breakfast is gallo pinto and some fruit on the side, the way the Costa Ricans do it. Gallo pinto = leftover rice and beans fried up with an egg. I like to have some pineapple or other tropical fruit on the side, which there is an abundance of here in sunny Florida. |

I'll add my voice to those who recommend fruit. The body asks for something light to digest in the morning; so I usually eat fruit, and if I need something exceptionally light, I'll eat melon, watermelon or oranges (orange juice). These fruits are basically pure juice and are the lightest thing you could put in yourself.

God, I really need to get back into eating breakfast. I got into this bad habit of just skipping it, which was fine in my 20's, and I found that I functioned well without it somehow...I'ma freak of nature I know. In my 30's though, it's a different story. Usually I will grab some fruit if there is any in the bowl. I don't have to cook that and that means I can sleep in longer before work...this is my priority...for better or worse...those extra 15 minutes can make all the difference to me. I must admit, I've been eating on the go a fair bit of late. Those breakfast protein supplement drinks and maybe a muesli bar. |

My body repeatedly tells me to eat more eggs. I know this because my taste buds and my body fight over this pretty much every day. I think eggs taste really gross, and it is a chore for me to eat them. But I absolutely feel the benefits of eating them in the morning. | |

Hey have you ever had soft boiled eggs with toast? You soft-boil two eggs (takes about 5 minutes) and then crack them, scoop the eggs out into a bowl, add salt and pepper and mash them up with a fork, and then break up toast into little pieces and mix it all together. My mom used to make it for me when I was a kid, but it's a good breakfast. The toast soaks up the egginess. |

Yeah I can't really do soft-boiled! I try them hard-boiled, I can douse one in hot sauce, pop it in my mouth, and eat it in a bite. It's not so torturous that way. I'll try your egg salad if you try my pickle soup! |

It's funny, because the thought of it grosses me out, but so does the thought of blue cheese, and I love blue cheese. It's really the taste (and texture) of eggs which horrifies me. They're so rubbery when boiled, runny when fried, and sticky, and have that awful, uniquely eggy taste and they smell vile.

I remember as a child I liked eggs. Then, for for some reason, I reviled them! The smell was HORRIBLE and made me sick. It was strange! I must have not eaten eggs for several years. Then I magically liked them again and ate them all the time. Then I stopped, but only because I learned about factory farms and didn't have a good source for local eggs. |

When I was a child I would eat a dozen oysters at breakfast in Fiji, where my parents lived, and where they could shuck their own down by the rocks, for free. I loved those snotty things, then I went off them and turned to mussels instead? |

| Ha ha yes. That part never grossed me out, just the texture: cooked, raw and anywhere in between (although there is like a "least gross" sweet spot). Anyways, I like lots of liquid in the morning: water, green juice, melon (especially blended), smoothies. Yum. |
