I recently bought a watch with a pulse monitor for when my 76 year old bones are out cycling. Weather must pick up though, meanwhile I have taken a few readings. Around home = 65 A brisk 3 block walk and quick climb up 3 flights of stairs = 89 Partially assembling a stationary bike with limited instructions = 104 I was half done and took a long break here. Stress seems to work the heart harder than exercise and combined ccould be very serious. |

I knew that stress affects heart, but it was interesting to see that stress affects heart rate more than exercise. This implies that "to exercise our heart (i.e to increase heart rate) we should worry more". great. I would love to do away with exercise. |

Positive emotions create chemicals in the body that are good for health. Negative emotions like anxiety, fear and anger create chemicals in the body that are bad for health. The word stress has too many meanings to work with. For example exercise is stress but it is the good stress. When you do a pull up you are putting stress on the bar. Too much stress on the bar will create stress fractures or break it. Stress on your bones makes them stronger (more dense). As far as feeling stressed out meaning, Dr Wayne Dyer says that there is no such thing as stress, only stressful thoughts. For example-- wife dies. Is it stressful? Not to the guy who hates his rich wife. |
