Why aren't people just eating the diets which feel and taste best for them, and letting other people do the same? I don't get why food preferences are such serious business.

The truth of the matter is that we have too many people that believe what is good for them must be good for everybody. I don't buy that at all. We are all different, and our bodies use differing amounts of protein, fats, and carbs. The one truth that is universal is the fact everyone does better on whole foods compared to the nutritionally devoid processed junk. Don't fall for what people tell you is the right diet. Give it a try, and if it does you well after a month or more then you are on the right track, if it makes you look, and feel bad after giving it at least a month then you know it isn't for you. Diet is so simple that people love to complicate it.

You really want to start this all over again? You can't honestly have forgotten the debunking of Dr.Campbell, have you? Or would you like me to repost the dozens of links?

I agree with you too. Just like with everything, we need to explore. We need to experiment and find out what works for us. This is actually the fun part. No one knows what is good for us, we have to find it out ourselves.

My point was that the New York Times considered it news-- recent story.

Why is The China Study so darn popular? I have to say I've never read it, but I have a pretty good idea what it is about, reading many articles and even a few refutations of the book itself. It seems like it is the catch-all book for veganism for many people, and I think that is a bit dogmatic if you really think about it. If you want to be a vegan, fine, but you should do your research completely, not base it on one or a few books.

I've read tons of books on diet, and I can tell you that it comes down to which diet makes you feel the best. Nobody should sacrifice their health for their dietary beliefs, unless you are a masochist.

Actually, no. Someone who runs a blog, who works for the new york times, considered it news. But even with that aside, that wasn't the point you were trying to make. Your point, was to bring up the China Study again, as if to say that just because it's in the new york times ( which it's not), that it's actual news that shows the China study as something Viable. Here is some of the other things she considered recent news stories.

This is another demonstration that newspapers (and mass media in general) are often a terrible place to find good information - especially about nutrition.

Yes I know that it was her blog. I was not saying that it was not. But it is a subdomain of the NY Times website. To me, to work for the prestigious New York Times is a big deal. I wish that I had a blog on the NY Times so what I write can be seen by many thousands of people. There is a saying that it is not what you know, but who you know. So maybe she knew someone there before she was hired.

I made it clear that my post was humorous. I called it the Hong Kong Study and then said that I was kidding. So I was saying that I was surprised that she considered it news. On my blog I put up new things like vitamin D being the virtual cure for breast cancer. As far as being new or recent it was on 12/14/2010 that webmd.com had an article on vitamin D and breast cancer. It was on 12/15/2010 that Dr Oz made a video about vitamin D and breast, colon and uterine cancer.

But yes I was also pointing out that she was impressed with it. Now many have refuted it. Now the following is not saying that they are wrong. It is saying that this study did impress a lot of people.

[following]A reporter told Einstein that 100 top physicists in the world said that his theory of relativity was nonsense. He replied that if it was nonsense then it would only take one top physicist to say that it was nonsense. Later there was an eclipse and some scientists were able to take very, very, very precise measurements that proved that Einstein's theory was fact.

Then, the next day, the New York Times front page said:
LIGHTS ALL ASKEW IN THE HEAVENS; Men of Science More or Less Agog Over Results of Eclipse Observations. EINSTEIN THEORY TRIUMPHS
LIGHTS ALL ASKEW IN THE HEAVENS - Men of Science More or Less Agog Over Results of Eclipse Observations. EINSTEIN THEORY TRIUMPHS Stars Not Where They Seemed or Were Calculated to be, but Nobody Need Worry. A BOOK FOR 12 WISE MEN No More in All the W

The next day he was an instant worldwide celebrity. Note so that no one is confused by the above, the stars were not where they seemed to be because part of Einstein's theory was that gravity bends light and his equations showed exactly how much the light was bent. If someone wants to get technical, then what I said was wrong. It is more like that mass causes space to become bent and that is gravity.

It was saying not to worry since only about 12 wise men in the world can really understand what Einstein was talking about.

lol correct me if i"m wrong, but I think you just equated Einstein to Campbell, and implied that he isn't actually refuted and that most men just aren't smart enough to understand his work.

Oh, and you insert your brand of humor into just about every single post you make, serious or not. So forgive me for not being able to see through this one......

That last part was sarcasm.

Tim Ferriss book which includes a debunking of the China Study just hid #1 of the New York Times best seller list.

As a result someone feels the need that he has to do a bit PR to defend the book. As a result he runs around and the best place he can place his article is a blog of the New York Times.
Pathetic.
