Default Tension Headaches

I have these tension headaches that happen, usually at night when I am working, and I cannot think or concentrate very well.

Is there any suggestions to stop these headaches? I am sick and tired of them.

Do you wear contacts? I get headaches when my prescription is too strong or too weak...

Anyways, Edgar Cayce frequently recommended an exercise for the head & neck. It involves stretching the head in each of the four directions (left, right, forward, back), then rolling the head around 3-times clockwise and 3-times counterclockwise.

Here's a link to Dr. Reilly's excellent description:
The Edgar Cayce handbook for health ... - Google Books

hth, hand.

Well you do not give us much to go on so I have to guess. Stop drinking that caffeinated alcohol. Stop taking all those drugs or medications. Stop microwaving all that food. Stop drinking diet drinks or stop drinking all that coffee.

Or you could exercise or do yoga to get rid of stress. You can hang upside down for 5 minutes a day. There are inversion tables or a bar and gravity boots.

I am getting more and more tension headaches much more frequently than I have ever had. I think it might be stress and too much going on at one time.

Can only give you my experience. I am 59. Mine started at age 36. Back-of-the-neck-going-up-into-the-head headaches, sometimes on one side only. Tried massage, Excedrin ( could've been aggravated by my "addiction" to), went to urgent care many times. Most narcotics worked unsatisfactorily. Finally, Toradol injections (NON-narcotic anti-inflammatory) worked great most times. Headaches ABRUPTLY stopped at age 54 after I started taking atenolol and lisinopril for BLOOD PRESSURE.

Red face Tension Type Headache:

Headache often comes due to constant pressure. It may cause neck and muscle pain. It arises normally because of continuous position in the same angle like the one in exam hall always looking down for two or more hours.Other causes are eye pain, dehydration, stressful pain, loss of sleep, eliminating the habit of drinking coffee. Avoiding long constant position could help solve your problem to some extent.

That maybe true. I have had to hold my head in some position while working or just watching something. I guess moving my head around will help.

Pay systematic attention to your body - try to notice if you`re tense or not. If you are, then relaaaax Most of the people dont even notice that they have tensed... try to make this into an uncouscious habit... when I`m working behind my computer I automatically "check" my posture every hour or so. It was hard at first to keep it in mind but the habit settled quite quick. I almost don`t notice doing it anymore... its as normal as breathing.

What type of work do you do (if you don't mind me asking)? You say night work which makes me think physical. If you're working night shifts that involve a lot of physical labour all you'd have to do is mix that up with a bit of mental pressure (which usually comes from night shifts) and the answer displays itself.

Oh.... never mind then.

It's probably neck tension then. If you're at your desk with your neck craned in the direction of the books every night you're going to be causing light damage. Take five minute breaks every half hour or find somewhere comfy to study.
