Default After Gym practical foods

Hey guys,

Just looking for some ideas here. I want to start going to the gym in the mornings (some days it's before class, others before work). My dilemma is that even though I live 15-20 min from campus walking distance, it doesn't make sense to walk there earlier in the morning to have to walk back home to shower and eat. I'm wondering what you recommend that I can do for food after the gym that would fill me up for a few hours at least. I can't also bring enough for two meals due to how much I can carry on me.

Any ideas?

Either that or boiled eggs. They are energy-dense, neat (can keep them in the shell until you want to eat them) and easy to make.

Another option is to eat nuts--peanuts or almonds or walnuts depending on your preference. Easy to carry with you and also easy and neat to eat. You'll want them unsalted obviously. Nuts are also very energy-dense, so you won't be starving after an hour or two after your workout.

Good luck!

What about like cooking oatmeal and just storing it in a container? Should still pretty warm enough afterwards I would think, no?

Try bringing a bag of trail mix. Bananas are great too.

Yeah, nuts and dried fruit. I suggest you make your own "trail mix" so you can get dry roasted nuts and dried fruits without added sugar.

Also, try more to eat walnuts as they provide omega 3 fats, which are good for you. Otherwise go with almonds and peanuts as they have more protein per serving that other nuts.

Some people also like to make shakes for themselves. Endless recepies on "health" shakes. I don't do them myself, so I leave it at that.

Also, nothing really beats just plain fruit, banana, apple, etc... it is also compact and will fill you up.
