Default Are You an Active Couch Potato?

Source: Are You an "Active Couch Potato?": Burn The Fat Blog

I have to say that a lot of the evolution we go through is bad. For instance, I'd like the world a lot more if cars didn't exist at all...

Some practical tips from the article (definitely read the whole thing!):
- Get out of your chair regularly, stand or stretch.
- Substitute sedentary leisure time with physical leisure time.
- Increase your physical activity beyong the gym.

Do you consider yourself an active couch potato?

Yeah, I have read this before. It's a bit scary as I spend most of my day working at a computer

However, I am sort of grateful for cars, because it'd be darn hard to get around anywhere here without one Maybe as a single person, but not as a parent with three kids!

Still, I agree that we need to get up and move more physically. I try and break my day up a bit with other "stuff" that involves me getting up from my chair and at least moving around a bit more, even when I'm working.

In the world as it is right now, of course not having a car can make things difficult.

Getting up, stretching is at least a good idea. I'm planning to start double workouts in the near future, not every day but frequently. One workout just is nearly enough. I'm exhausted after my workout but in half an hour I feel I could start again.

I use a yoga ball as a chair when I sit at my desk in my bedroom. I also do alot of cardio so that helps. I bike, when its warm enough, 5 miles to school.

I've always been a couch potato, but fortunately, my job requires standing up all day and walking short distances. I'm tired of jobs that require sitting all day.

I love having no car and living in the city. But folks outside of Boston or NY city don't have reasonable alternatives, everything is so spread out everywhere else.

Yeah I know. It's not to say that cars are a necessity but that important facilities should be built better, which is obviously very difficult. Let's say that I'm just against that no effort moving and the pollution cars bring.
