Default Glutamine side effects

I ramped up my weight training recently and started supplementing with glutamine. It's an amino acid and is supposed to help prevent muscle loss.

However, even when I only take about 3 grams a day, I break out in spots and get stomach ache during the night.

Has anyone else experienced any side effects?

No. But I think glutamine is useless unless you're dieting on a very low-carb diet. And even then it's usefulness can be disputed.

I take up to twenty grams a day. I noticed that no matter how hard i trained and i have done up to 3 hrs cardio a day, mon to sun for mths at a time, I NEVER caught a cold while i was on it. So definately think it helps against overtraining.

ALOT OF PEOPLE SWEAR BY BSN Cellmass which is basically glutamine and creatine

I have been thinking about starting to use Glutamine to kick my training up a bit but am worried about the possible side affect that it might prevent the effective repair of tendons. I picked up a running related injury a few months ago that my tendons still haven't recovered from and so wan wondering what peoples recommendations were.

People were made to eat food not take man-made supplements. There is a difference.

Using this definition, glutamine IS food.

I've used glutamine when i was 13, I thought it helped BIG TIME. I think it really depends on the brand that you choose. I chose a generic, awful, thick, tasting one from Great Earth Vitamins and the taste did give me stomach aches for a bit.

However, it really helped me recover out of workouts. Like I would feel that my body was sore but it never hurt. Really good stuff. I recommend it for anyone who's serious about working out daily.

Note: You're probably allergic to your certain brand
