Every single hair dresser that I've gone to (all Asian by the way) cuts around the ears. And it's damn annoying because afterwards it looks like I have a hole in my hair. Here's a picture to show you what I mean:

Can you see how ugly that is?

Why do they do that?

Every time I tell them not to they never listen...

Write a big note that has this photo on it and says, "Please leave the area around my ears alone. If you cut around my ears like this: {photo} .. I will not pay for the haircut."

Then ask them to sign the note to acknowledge that they understand.

I specialize in just this, actually.

For a small fee, I can take that picture and move the ears up in it so that that hole just vanishes.

Get a woman to go with you. Tell them not to touch your hair near your ears. Then when they do cut it, the woman watching will see this and she should scream for 3 whole minutes without stopping. Then repeat.

How do you compensate for the glasses tho? That seems like a tough one.

Oh oh!! Instead of moving the ears UP, move the hair DOWN!!
