Default Menstrual Migraine

I have menstrual migraine and the pain is similar to labor pain. It doesn't last for just a day but most of the time for 2-3 consecutive days. I have kids to attend to and sometimes I can't perform my tasks well because of this migraine.
I'm now in search of ways and natural remedies to stop or at least lessen the pain.
A friend is recommending something called Dr. Zaxx. Does anybody tried this? I need your testimonials on this. Thanks.

The only natural way to cope for me is a mix of essential oils (lemon lavender and peppermint) straight on the temples/neck and go to sleep. If it's during the day and have to attend to the kids, stuff nature, i take medicines.

I only get pains (cramps though, not migraine) for the first day but what has helped that immensely is evening primrose oil, I really recommend that. I take 1,500 mg a day (but you perhaps don't need to take it ALL month, just before and during your period maybe? but I take mine because it improves my mood and my skin too, think I have a hormonal imbalance or something...). It helps with balancing hormones and I looked it up online, a lot of women swear by it for helping with painful periods and PMS. I would pretty much cry for 4 days straight before each period and be irritable as hell and now I'm completely fine... and I credit it to the evening primrose oil . I stopped taking it before my last period and I had terrible PMS & the first day of my period was agony... never going to stop taking it again .

Good luck, hope you find something that works for you.

An other possibility is using Implanon as birth control, then it's no migraines since no periods (however i read on her before it's a bit the luck of the draw, some women still get random periods with it).

Migraine that is similar to labor pains? I thought labor pains came around the abdomen...? Migraines come in the head, right?

I just started taking this too because I read that it helps with the pain. I got the pain anyway though. I wanted to ask about how long do I have to take it? Do I have to take it every day all the time? Or just before? Or when I get the pain?

I haven't noticed any changes at all from taking it, actually.

Yep, me too. If I have to drive a car, teach a class, meet a deadline or just interact with other humans, I take an Excedrin Migraine pill.

Recently I found that doing a grounding meditation helps me nip migraines in the bud. So long as I do the meditation before the pain gets too bad, it really works well.

I think you need to take it for a while for it to build up. You definitely can't just take it on the day of your period, it won't act like a pain-killer. From my experience I think you would benefit from taking it for at least 2 weeks before your period, but it's best if you google that because I'm not that knowledgable about it, I just know it's worked for me.

I take mine every single day, but I do so because it improves my mood in general (I'm moody & irritable without it unfortunetely... but like I said I suspect I may have a hormonal imbalance ... maybe that's why it works so well for me?). The biggest thing it does for me is help with PMS. I would feel awful for 4 days straight, just crying and feeling miserable. It does also help with the pain, but it wouldn't be odd for me to get a degree of pain - just nowhere near what I used to get though. If your pain is massive maybe it would have less effect but I do think it's worth giving it a good go - I'd try it for at least a couple months to see if it had any effect. I'm not sure whether you should take it daily or just a couple weeks before your period though so I do suggest you google that (sorry I can't help with that bit).

edit: It took a while for me to notice a major improvement, but it was major I wouldn't be without it now.

Ok, thanks. I began taking it 8 days before I estimated I would get my pd. But I started taking 2600 mg, as per the minimum on the bottle. I'd be glad to only take 1300 every day, so I will do that.

Thanks for the tip Leesah, I'm going to try that! I've always had really bad PMS as well...
