Default Headache When Watching 3D Films

Whenever I watch a 3D film my eyes feel cross-eyed, and I get a pounding headache. Does anyone know of a way to prevent this or somehow overcome it while watching 3D films?

3-D films are an optical illusion. They are tricking your eyes and brain. They are not really in 3-D. The way to avoid it is to only watch 15 minutes of the movie everyday.

Personally, I’ve never had a problem with eye strain and headaches with modern 3D movies, but I know a couple people that do. So how do you avoid it?
It is true that originally, the 3D image effect was created by having two different projectors, one that produced an image intended for each eye.

They give me a bit of eyestrain too. I think it's normal.

a) You probably need glasses. In order for the effect to work your eyes need to be in similar condition. But if one eye is having more issues than the other, your brain will probably need to incur into a lot of effort to make the 3D shapes the same. I would just pay a visit to the oculist just in case.

b) Is 3d worth it? I've watched three movies in it already and it seems that although the 3dness is cool and all, I also think the glasses remove some color saturation in some settings of Avatar and toy story I would sometimes remove my glasses just to see how amazingly colorful pandora or toy story 3's settings were. With the glasses on it is much darker.
