Would one cup a day be enough?
What you're describing there is a green smoothie, and it's excellent! Just start out with a small amount of greens at first and then build up. Personally I like frozen berries in my greens smoothies, too. Spinach and kale taste the best in green smoothies, imo

No meat or diary.
These could be prepared in any way or juiced.
Could you live on just 5 different foods? What would they be?
You almost have it right Just change the order:
"to maintain the highest level of optimal health,
what is the least variety of foods one could live on"

See this way, you 1st. find out what is Optimal-health
When you have done the research into this,
then you can answer the 2nd. part, about specific foods. Makes good sense?

It isn't vegan or raw, but this is what I'm doing, and it's easy, cheap, simple, and I'm losing weight consistently. I'm healthy, I feel great, and I have enough libido to stun a water buffalo.

The first thing I eat in the morning and last thing I eat at night are 3 brazil nuts and 5 almonds. Breakfast also includes 4 forkfuls of sauerkraut for the probiotics.

Brunch consists of a cold protein salad made with 3 hard-boiled eggs, half can of cooked lentils, one can of chunk chicken breast, some cooked spinach, tahini and caesar dressing. Dinner will be chicken, fish or beef with asparagus or other vegetables.

I drink lots of cold-brewed tea with cinnamon, ginger, stevia, and maca added to it. I also take the supplements Timothy Ferriss recommends.

I started reading 'The 4-Hour Body' on July 27th, not sure when I started implementing the diet plan, but I've lost ~15 pounds since then without any significant increase in exercise. I've lost 15 pounds in 42 days, and I'd like to lose 20 more to be at my ideal body weight, so I should be there in two more months. WOOT!!!

Just eat a lot of fruit, a good variety of greens, and a small amount of nuts and seeds.

Mono fruit meals, and big salads, and green smoothies.
Also fruit salads, fruit soups, etc.

I had to live off bananas and spinach for about a month once for financial reasons. It was not bad. (There were a few other food items occasionally, but mostly those two items.)
