This is probably one of the most important things when trying to lose weight. It doesn't defend any particular diet, it defends weight loss by lifestyle as opposed to crash diet. The most important part of a diet is sustainability. The exception is a cleanse, but it's not about loosing weight in that case.

Martin Berkhan – Scorch Through Your Fat Loss Plateau | Fitness Black Book
That Martin Berkhan guy says drinking protein shakes and smoothies is bad for weight loss but I don't think that's true at all.

He also recommends 3 meals per day as being plenty to feed your muscles but he looks really skinny.

He defends that by saying most guys don't want to look like a pro bodybuilder, and that's true, but most guys would rather not be skinny like him either.

He needs a few shakes in-between meals .

Default missing factor

nice debate.

Please be sure to keep in mind that like with everything else in life there are no absolutes.

Some people need animal meat to survive and will get sick without it.

Some people only need vegetables and fruits and nuts to survive, and will get sick from eating meat. Our level of health understanding is still highly insufficient to be making any sort of absolute claims.

The only absolute is that no two people are the same. Nuts are highly healthy, yet some people are allergic! I tried eating vegan for a while, and it didn't work for me. Pain in the leg nerves.

As for the ethics argument about eating animals, it's worthless.

Plants have feelings and emotions too (try looking up some studies), so eating vegetables also cause pain.

We live in a circle of life on this planet, we simply cannot be too noble, everything must have a limit.

I do, however, agree that if we do eat animal meat, the animals should be treated humanely, and not locked up in cages and fed grain and corpses of other animals.

But the simple eating of animals will not make everyone fat. Maybe some people.
