Default Lose Weight - LINK what's important to you with weight loss!

If you want to lose weight have you been trying to motivate your self with the following reasons?

*To lose weight
*To Be Healthy
*Because *someone* wants you to
*Because of what people think of you, having people think more highly of you
*To Be Thin

Are those reasons really important to you? Maybe what you need to do is write down what's most important to you in life and link together what's important to you with weight loss.

So Now, you link losing weight with reasons that are important to you.
Examples:
*Fashion
*Being Cool
*Being and looking sexy and desirable, especially to partner

Those are the things you might REALLY care about...NOT being thin or losing weight....but you can use losing weight as something you have to do to have these things that are most important to you!

So When you see those donuts, or chips, or whatever, don't think "Health, Lose Weight, Be thin" to not eat them, think "Fashion, being cool, being and looking sexy & desirable, especially to my partner" (or what's important to you) to not eat them.

Interesting thread. 5 years ago I did just that exercise - tried to find the reasons for which I wanted to lose weight that I felt really passionnate about. Turns out there weren't any. I didn't want to be thin, actually. What I wanted was to be healthy, energetic and feel good about my body - the weight at which I achieved that was irrelevant.

I did achieve these goals, and lost weight in the process, but it was more of a side effect than a goal.

You really shouldn't motivate yourself on the idea of 'losing weight.' People instinctively don't want to lose anything so they will gain weight. Most people who go on diets gain the weight they lose back, gain more weight, or don't change their weight at all. People should make the idea of seeing their perfect physical body and use that to generate action. That way action will be positive, whereas giving yourself the idea that you are not good enough will generate more or less negative action.

With things like that I've noticed it's helpful to get obsessive and even have unrealistic expectations. If I'm trying to get into shape I get into a mode where I feel like my appearance, mental state, overall life conditions are going to be so much better once I reach my goal. Junk food is easy to ignore because there is such a larger reward coming.

Of course when you get there you realize things haven't changed THAT much. But you also feel really good about your looks, health and think "this isn't the answer to every problem but I can't believe I didn't do this sooner"

Where is that fight school out of? I trained in Boston at a really great place now called Red Line Fight Sports. They go to NY and CT (Foxwoods) a lot for bouts.
