Question raw food dehydrator question

I'm looking at the Excalibur dehydrator, and am wondering how important you think it is to get the non-stick sheets. Would parchment paper or aluminum foil work, or are the special sheets necessary?

I ended up buying more sheets, so I'd go ahead and buy them initially. They're economical too. I used to buy alot of parchment paper...

I use parchment paper and it works totally fine. (Do not use wax paper though!! Everything sticks and you can't pry the food off.)

I would prefer to have the teflex sheets, though, I think. You might as well get them, IMO. Be sure to get as many sheets as you have trays. It'll be annoying otherwise.

Good luck and happy dehydrating!

Thanks for the replies! I'm not actually buying a dehydrator at this time, a good friend is. I have a little Mr. Coffee dehydrator that, while not perfect, has been good enough for my needs so far. So I've passed along the good advice, thanks again.
