I was curious about something tonight. My brother went and bought Band Hero kit on Friday and we spent A LOT of time over the weekend playing. I never would have guessed drums was so exhausting. We played several hours the first night until the wee hours of the morning opening all the songs. But being in a curious mood I started looking up how many calories it burns because I was literally sweating and tired mentally and physically at the end. One site said 508 calories WHOA(surely not the exact) in 60 minutes. Now that is exercise I can certainly work with. Of course not as the only exercise but any calorie burn will help boost metabolism right? I want a Wii. BAD!! Its getting to be too hot to think about going outside to exercise so I'll probably be lazy and stick to indoor stuff. Last edited by Strangemagik; 05-11-2010 at 07:50 AM. |

Edit: I just noticed you asked if you should "count" this as exercise. You can, but I wouldn't. If you do some kind of exercise routine on top of this, just imagine how healthy you're getting! | |

Oh yeah, burning calories is burning calories, no matter how you do it. We burn calories every second, even just sitting, but the more physical activity you do the more you burn. I noticed that in Boston, where most people walked to work, to the store, to the bank, at least 1 hour or more of walking just from daily living, the overweight problem was much rarer. The suburban tourists who I would always see when I lived next to the original Cheers bar were often so rolly polly looking. |

I'd say you could burn 300 calories an hour on an average song on medium difficulty. I guess the great thing about this is it gets to become a much better exercise the better at it you become! Its also a great workout for your forearms.
