| I decided today to go off the pill. For a while now, I have been worried about what the pill is doing to my body. This morning at the dentists office took the cake. My dentist took one look into my mouth and pronounced "You are taking Brandx birth control pills". That is right. He was able to see which brand of pill I am on by the way plaque has been building up in my mouth. Apparently each brand leaves it's mark in a mouth, and he has an eye for it. Since we know now that tooth decay and gum disease also relate to heart disease - I decided no more of it for me. What I would like to know about is the natural birth control method. Does anyone here use it? Any tips, thoughts, concerns? I would like to hear anything you might have to share. Thanks a million!

| Casanova supposedly used a lemon rind to act as a diaphragm. We have developed better technology since then, but lemons are natural. There's always good 'ole abstinance. If you're really familiar with your body, there's about a 4 day period following menstruation, which has a lower likelyhood of you getting pregnant. You can wait until menopause. If you stop eating, then you will also stop your menstrual cycle. This is highly dangerous and definitely not recommended. That's about all I can think of for "natural" methods of birth control, seeing how the natural purpose of sex is to get pregnant. It may be easier and more effective if you just have your lover get a condom. On a side note: I highly advise against searching for some kind of herb or "natural" pill that works the same way as birth control pills. Either they aren't going to work or they are going to mess with your hormone system, both of which are very dangerous. Last edited by natopoto11 : 03-02-2007 at 01:40 PM. |

| Read Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Wechsler (sp?) If you know when you're fertile you can avoid pregnancy, or get pregnant if you want to. Worked wonders for me.

| That microscope thingy looks very cool indeed. Why don't more people use natural methods? I am going to get that book Erin suggested, try to get my hands on the microscope on this continent and start getting my body back to normal. Thank you all for your suggestions.

| While this isn't natural birth control, it is hormone free. (which has been a blessing in my life. I was on depo for 3 years, but that's another long story). I got an IUD last year. There are hormonal ones, but I got the old fashioned copper one. Getting it put in hurt like bad cramping for about 3 days and I haven't had a problem since. Except for remembering all the old tricks for dealing with PMS. Asrai |
