| A fun list I found via StumbleUpon: Vegetarian and Vegan Elite of the World Rabindranath Tagore, Albert Einstein, George Bernard Shaw, Sir C. V. Raman, Albert Schweitzer, and about 700 more.

Interesting list, although they incorrectly put Steve Jobs in there. The Wikipedia article on him says: "Jobs is not a vegetarian or vegan as is often claimed. Although he does not eat mammalian meat, he reportedly eats fish from time to time. This is known as pescetarianism."

I've been seeing these lists for over 25 years. They are often apochryphl. People change back, the word "vegetarian" is used incorrectly or the researcher gets it wrong. Ryn Berry is a scholar on veg*sm and writes quality books with solid information. If you are into who is who of real vegetarianism or the history you probably will not find more reliable and well written information than his: Rynn Berry

Oh, brother. I bet not even half of those "elite" people were vegetarian or vegan. This always happens, people making a bullshit list of all the successful people who were polyphasic, vegan, knew about the "secret" etc.

Amadeus -- Just food for thought. History of Vegetarianism - Was Christ a Vegetarian? I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the above link, but interesting reading anyway. Best, Joey

I'm no Bible scholar, but I don't recall reading anything that suggests that Jesus actually ate any fish. He may have used it to feed others, but eat it Himself? B-)

You are reading the title differently than I am. I do not read it as vegans are "elite," I read it as this list represents the elite of "vegans/vegetarians." Therefore, it is not meant to be comparative to anyone but vegans/vegetarians, and therefore does not have anything to do with "arrogance." I get the feeling maybe you are reading a bit too much into the title...
