Has some comments about that I've lost weight... Just to put this into context... we're talking a few pounds either way and before I started losing weight it would have been considered anyway that I "didn't have a pick on me"... But maybe I've been losing muscle too? Because six pack has improved, but not tremendously. Also a female friend commented that I looked "better bulked up" and I quizzed her about it and eventually she put it down to my pecks being less defined... Well that's a little surprising... and concerning. I don't really do weights to maintain my muscles - I use push-ups instead. Could I be losing muscle here? Sounds like a dilema... How to gain the muscle back without gaining the fat back... Pff...complications |

In the same Boat as you Rags! After the Christmas Bulge, I too, lost a lot of Weight from my abdomen area and waist. This slim waist made my Shoulders appear "wider" so therefore I looked like I had bulked up, when in fact its an optical illusion. Doesn't matter though since you seem to be getting female attention which I assume is why you're doing it. To look really good though, join a Gym and get a personal trainer to help with a Diet and Exercise Routine. No-one on a forum can check your Fat, Muscle, Weight and Bone Structure Ratio like a Trainer who knows Nutrition inside out. |

< Personal Trainer, Took Nutrition in University, and Will Post picture @ End of Post for my credentials for this reply Yes, you'll be able to see your abs when you lose weight, but most people's abs are terribly underdeveloped. When you sit in a chair all day and don't use weight-bearing exercises to hit them hard, you really won't have anything special. Now if you had trained with heavy sit-ups (holding weight on your chest for 10-12 reps for a few sets 1-2 times a week, or doing heavy cable crunches for 8-10 reps, etc.) you would have much better ab development and it would look much better when you lose weight/fat. So if you're still hitting the gym, try adding in some heavier ab work and you should see some small changes within a few weeks in the right direction. It takes time to completely transform them, but that should get you started. |

Is it possible to replace heavy weight with really slow sit-ups so that only 10 reps are manageable? (I've read about this in the past) I can use weight for now, but shortly I'll be living a fairly nomadic life-style where it's unlikely I'll have regular weights.

Edit: Doesn't necessarily have to regular weights - could be a rock, whatever. Get creative.

Actually it's two-fold. I am also doing it because I want to prove to myself that I can do it. So far so good to be honest.
