Default Stir-Fry

I have no onions, and am about to run to the store for some. I want a nice vegetable stirfry with rice on the side. The only (stir-fryable) vegetables that are in the fridge right now are celery, carrots. What else should I pick up for a good stir-fry? (besides onion and maybe green zucchini)

oooh...water chestnuts, I always forget about those. Thanks for the reminder.

I love a bit of minced fresh ginger...it really makes it taste like a stir-fry and so good for you too!

And some type of brasing greens...kale, chard, spinach.

Yum!

Stir fry ? use Coconut oil instead of unsaturated vegetable oil if possible

Water chesnuts (drool). I ended up using bok choy, zucchini, celery, onion, bean sprouts and green pepper. Next time I'll definetely (sp?) get some ginger and water chesnuts. And thanks for the coconut oil tip. I'll start using that after I use up the rest of this vegetable oil.

These forums are great. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Thank to everyone.

how much of an affect does stir frying have on the nutrutional contents of veg etc? does it destroy a lot of the vitamins?
