Another good reason for positive thinking:

Interesting. I read somewhere that studies showed how women in unhappy relationships had lower immune systems and more susceptibility to illness. I suppose it makes sense, usually negativity breeds stress which causes erosion of your body's natural defenses.

This shows what I have been preaching all along. Positive thinking is something that cannot be denied as having an influence on all aspects of life.

I 100% agree, Andrew. We have the powerful ability to create our own realities. If we can conquer demons of negativity in our thought processes, our potential is virtually limitless.

I've read before about a man who battled a terminal illness with pure laughter. He brought tons of 'funny' movies to his hospital room and focused exclusively on feeling good and willing himself better through the benefits of positivity and laughter.

Respecting your body through proper diet and exercise play a great role as well, but it is truly humbling what mental positivity and willpower can accomplish.

Interesting subject!!

I am currently dancing with a chest cold. It always seems to happen in February, but this year it is very different.

I am taking my "C's" and am being with the cold more than ever. In previous years I would mentally fight it and try every possible solution from the health food store.

It has been with me for about four days and I am on the mend. I never had one of those days that I felt really sick. In fact I kept up moderate exercise throughout.

Thanks for bringing this up!

Best,

Richard

Yes indeed! Emotional stress suppresses the immune system leaving us more susceptible to infections...

...and the neat thing is that we all have the power to change our perception, our attitude, our thoughts to create a happier, healthier life.

I think that's exciting!

Seek health!

Interestingly enough, recently I contracted a common cold. At first it was annoying but I kept myself focused on positive thoughts and would you believe it - it dissapeared the next day.

Meanwhile the rest of my family struggled on for a week...

Default Yes!

Two points.

First of all, my significant other is very laid back and washes his hands much less frequently than he should. Thus, he tends to bring a few illnesses into the house every year -- which I sometimes catch. I am somewhat obsessive about washing my hands after being in public, etc. and very rarely catch something on my own. So washing one's hands is a basic -- especially in flu season.

Second, my significant other got sick last night and passed it on to me. Today he stayed in bed all day fretting that he would get really ill like he did about a month ago ... Meanwhile I went to work (I don't believe in folks going to work sick but I had a 20-person class to teach tonight) and toughed it out thinking, "this will pass by tomorrow or so."

I came home from a hard day at work ... and he was lamenting his possible fate and constantly checking his rising temperature. By the time I got home from work it was up to 101.5 degrees and he was talking about going to the hospital if it got to 103.

I said, "Look, you will get really sick if that is what you think about. Just think about getting healthy. It's probably just a 24-hour virus ... I've had many of those 24-hour things. Just think healthy."

He agreed that I was right. Two hours later his temp. had dropped 3 degrees, he was feeling much better, and he was eating his favorite food (chicken) in front of the T.V.

He admitted that I had shifted his mindset and probably his health.

The power of the mind!

I've always thought this way. We are more powerful than we give ourselves credit for!
