I'm basically looking at losing a layer of fat. I'm by no means overweight, and I'm very muscular. Not huge like those ridiculous guys you see who can't walk properly... but muscular and pretty ripped. I'm not looking for a catalogue model six pack, but a little more visibility of my muscles... I'm already adjusting my work-out to become more of a toning work-out. More reps, more variety, etc. But I'd like some suggestions on adjusting my diet. My current diet... I currently avoid sugar as much as possible - although I do eat the occasional Chinese meal, or use the odd sugary sauce. Also occasionally use honey... occasionally eat tinned baked beans... occasionally eat just-add-water pasta meals... :| I don't eat pasta, but I do eat bread daily. I eat a small amount of vedge. I eat a fair amount of nuts and fruit. I eat lots of meat, fish, eggs, and quite a bit of cheese. My current plan is basically to introduce a higher amount of vedge, particularly carrots/onions/broccoli/side-salads (without sugary dressings). And to cut my sugary food and bread consumption. Thoughts? |

When I want to lose weight (and admittedly I've never lost an entire stone in one straight shot - more like five pounds, but still), I eat nothing but veggies, fruit, lean dairy, lean proteins, and MAYBE some whole grain bread if I get REALLY hungry. Nuts and cheese have a lot of fat. Nuts are REALLY healthy, but watch your intake of them. I would suggest really big salads with a low-fat dressing - just use the cheese & nuts sparingly and don't make them the focus of your meal. Also, go for skim or 2% cheeses as opposed to full-fat cheeses. Remember that a serving of meat is the same size as a deck of cards so you don't eat too much of that, either. And go for leaner cuts of meat. Oh, and ditch the bread. That's a lot of unnecessary calories right there. If you MUST have bread, buy something that's labelled 100% whole grain. Good luck! |

One site all about getting 6 pack abs says this first. It says that not everyone can get it due to genetics. But they make a lot of money by showing these people and getting people to want to look like that. Tyra Banks had on her show women that would do all sorts of dangerous things to become a model. She had fake interviews with them and doctors and showed them on TV. Then she told the 5 women on her show that she does this for a living and she can say without any doubt that they will never become models so they should seek their fulfillment elsewhere. Actually I was very attracted to one of those women but I am not an expert like Tyra Banks. The site below has everything about losing weight and you only need to use a few of them. For example, drink no water. Drink only green or white tea. The Chinese do not drink water. The saying is for all the tea in China. In Philadelphia we have a huge Chinese population. They tend to work like 70 hours a week. Chinese restaurants are open every single day. So some look tired and over-worked. But is is rare to see one that is overweight. Here is another tip. Note the following is full of holes so you will go and try to fill them. Salt is very fattening even though it has no calories and creates no adipose tissue (body fat). But many people look very fat but it is not due to fat. Like Jerry Lewis. Look up to see why he is so fat but it is not due to fat. He has a good medical excuse. When you get a fat lip, it means that it is swollen, not full of fat. Last edited by ginkgo; 01-04-2010 at 06:24 AM. |

| That actually reminds me...avoid carbonated beverages as well. They tend to bloat you because they don't digest well or something, I'm not quite sure why it was exactly...I've never had a problem with it myself, but when I told my mom that she stopped drinking carbonated beverages & said she felt a lot less bloated.

To be governor he had to get into acting. His bad English did not get him into acting but his body did. So to be governor he needed to win the Mr Olympias by looking better than anyone else. That meant as little fat or anything that made him look fat. This is not theory but his practical experience. So the CA governor is saying that you will never look good with tons of salt in your diet and he is the expert on looking good. So it sounds like that layer of fat is not fat just like with Jerry Lewis who has a medical condition. The governor also found that coffee and some medications cause you to look fat like the salt. It is Jerry Lewis' medication that causes him to look fat. I guess people do not take what he says about this seriously but they would listen to a fat MD or scientist. So he is like Sara Palin. They are both treated like they are not smart because they look so good. Last edited by ginkgo; 01-04-2010 at 07:58 PM.

What do you weigh? What is your body fat percentage? What is your daily fitness structure? What is your daily caloric intake? Have you ever had abs before? I could just throw out the general rules but that is not going so well in other threads. |

Now she did not say this but this is my take on it. Sara Palin shoots moose and then eats it. She is a tough woman. I think she was busy restraining herself since she figured that it would be much worse for her if she beats up this reporter. Also people are nervous when they are being filmed. Youtube has President Obama talking about how The United States has 57 states. He did not just say it, but was talking about these different states by number like 53rd state. I am sure that he knows that there are only 50 states. Last edited by ginkgo; 01-04-2010 at 10:57 PM.

You can lose most of the water in 2 days by eating close to 0 carbs, keep protein and fat high and drink up to 2 gallons of water daily. Caffeine is a good diuretic. There is an otc diuretic - pamabrom that helps also. Lots of people are sketchy on that idea without realizing that millions of women take that every month to help with period bloating. Marketing is so efficient that most actually think that a combination of tylenol and a diuretic is a "womans drug"? Men are allowed relief from water retention also. Honestly though even a reasonably high intake of sodium would not ruin an otherwise shredded physique, usually it's just too much bodyfat. One good way to beat hunger while eating clean is to eat meals not snacks which throw off blood sugar. Each time you eat try to get protein/fat/vitamins&minerals/carbs (unless going low carb) and water. This way your blood sugar remains stable and you won't get crazy hungry. This is where protein shakes come in handy. example meals: protein shake, handful of almonds, veges shake w/ 1/2T of flax oil, oatmeal w/ small amount of raisins shake, 2 slices whole wheat bread w/ smart balance butter, veges can of tuna, brown rice w/ smart balance, veges my favorite "on the run" meal - shake/flax oil, grab 1/2 wheat bagel & run out the door. Protein bars are so-so but good for emergency since you never want to go more than 3 hours between meals then portions are adjusted according to your needs. Eat fat, especially saturated fat, to lose fat. It's miraculous. Not only that, but eating a lot of fat practically eliminates sugar cravings.

Pretazone is the drug that made Jerry Lewis look----plump it is a steroid. Speaking of steroids, Arnold Took them to look good, in body building you have to vascularity, he didn't. the steroids made his stand out. I got this info from Arnold own book written in 1970's. Steroids also wasted his heart valve which he had replaced. I was a fan of Arnold long before anybody ever heard of him. Good luck losing the stone. Ive lost lots of em, unfortunately the recidivism rate for weight loss is as bad as any drug. Last edited by Captain Drywall; 01-07-2010 at 12:40 AM. Reason: edit |
