Spectacular book! One of the very best books on nutrition out there!

Best,

I read it. I really like his philosophy or 'diet-style', I think is what he calls it. I think the book really helped me change some of my eating habits for the better...and I was just thinking that I need to refocus on eating that way, as I've slacked a bit!

To me, it makes a lot of sense...I think that people's bodies respond differently to different eating plans -- and mine responded very well to this one.

Just FYI, I think there are a fair number of blogs recording peoples' experiences with ETL. There's also a blog called diseaseproof.com which is written by (I'm guessing) an employee of Dr. Fuhrman's.

I think it is not that bad of a book, but he ( and other low fat gurus ) is only repeating what Pritikin already knew in the 50s and was preaching in the 70s.

I love this book. I would say it goes much further then just low fat. I have never been a big follower of low fat, but i liked this book becuase it made sense.

Eat a pound of cooked veggies and a pound of raw a day. Nice and simple.

Added on top of that, it is shows what you need to be eating, explaining that junk food vegans or junk food low fat eaters are still not eating right, just becuase it is low fat, or vegan does not mean you should be eating it..

I really enjoyed it, and he had some good recipied in there as well.

Adrienne

Cron -- Fuhrman is actually not a believer in low-fat per se. He believes that those who are overweight should generally consume lower fat diets while losing weight because they are actually burning up their stored fat for energy. So in essence, they are still on a high fat diet. But, as you get to your ideal weight, he recommends dramatically increasing your percentage of fats. For very active people, he can recommend around 50% or more of calories coming from fat. I know this from sources other than the book (the book does make it seem like the strategy is low fat dieting, but again, this book was geared to those who need to lose fat).

Further, Pritikin's diet focus was very different than Fuhrman's....

Best,
Joey

No I have not read his book but I do visit his blog from time to time. Take a look at Disease Proof, it may help you make up your mind.
