The best thing I've found for fitness is doing an exercise not focused in certain muscles or body parts but on moving the whole body. Walking and swimming are the typical ones, and the ones advised by medicians.

CrossFit looks like a great program. I was inspired to check out local gyms offering CrossFit training after reading this blog today > Josh Hillis' Fat Loss and Fitness Articles: Frank Miller movie 300 actor training - The 300 Workout

Pretty intense stuff, but with real-world application. That's what makes it superior.
