I teach English in China and often ask my students what made them smile today. They often have problems thinking up something and often say: "YOU!" So, I'll go first. I saw a little girl of around 3 years old wheeling around her 2 year old friend on the back of a small toy. They were having sooo much fun, laughing and screaming - all the while in the middle of the busy alley where they were people were shuffling by. They gave me a BIG smile. So you, my friend. Yes you. |

The street I live in is lined with trees, as it is autumn now, the trees are changing colours,so today as I was walking home I was admiring that beautiful sight! I smiled all the way home.

Thanks for this post and reflective moment ouyang. Here's what made me smile today... Seeing two little girls sitting in their mums shopping trolley in Tesco with BIG smiles on their faces Isn't amazing how easily children can remind us there's always something to smile about...even when there's nothing to smile about? |

Catching my dog sitting propped up against the couch cushions, belly hanging out, with a face like a funny, grumpy old man. A sweet text message from a friend I haven't seen in a while. The emergence of three new fruits on my capsicum plant. A funny YouTube video of a lyrebird making sounds like car alarms, camera shutters and (not so funny, but still impressive) chainsaws. The barista at my local café spotting me waiting in line and having my regular coffee all ready to go before I even got to the counter. This thread. |

I was feeling really frustrated today, and I talked with two of my best friends online for 4 hours and they made me feel so much better. Their honesty, trust, and genuine care reassured me that everything will be okay, and that even when things become difficult, they will always be there for me. Friends really make such a big difference!

I saw an awesome production of The Christmas Carol at my university today, and the obvious love the actors had for their art and the effort they put in to making this wonderful performance made me smile. Because of their love, I'm still smiling over a hour later. =)

Waking up to see that one of my snakes had re-arranged his burrow into something very clever (I wonder how he moved the stuff) and my ball python had finished her shed during the night, looking so god damn pretty. Finding one of my cats stuffed in a ridiculously small place, she was sleeping, like, well... a cat. |
