Default Ate meat for the first time in over a year

and I feel perfectly fine physically. I ate it at the beginning of the weekend because I felt it would be ok if I got really sick this weekend from eating it...but no. No sickness at all. No remorse. No anger. Nothing that I've heard other people experienced from eating meat again. After noticing I was ok, I did go on a rampage though and ate a tremendous amount of meat over the last 3 days. Will be interesting to see how it plays out this next week. Hopefully I'll stay well .

I haven't decided though whether to go back to being a non-meat eater or whether to continue eating meat. I must say, eating meat has been very enjoyable and it is nice to have a huge number of choices open up to me about what I can eat that I didn't have this past year.

It's also peculiar to know I've contributed directly to killing animals for the first time in over a year.

I wouldn't mind trying it myself, but I have no intention of going back to eating meat . It's good that you aren't sick. What was your diet like while being a vegetarian?

Ah man, a whole year? I doubt I could go a day without eating meat. I had a beautiful spitroast chicken for lunch today.

I saw on the news that a 13 year old boy went to school and was shot and killed by another student. What does that have to do with what you are saying? They did not mention a single student that went to school and was not shot. So that means ["Nothing that I've heard other people experienced"] that everyone that I heard about got shot and killed at school.

So people do not say that I tried eating meat after 10 years and nothing happened. In fact vegetarians eat meat occasionally. According to who? Michael Jackson. Many people think that he was a vegetarian. But then according to my theory, he ate meat once in a while if he was a vegetarian. But he never ate meat. He said that he was "strict vegetarian."

Did you eat any monkey meat? I hear that monkey brains are good to eat. What made me think of that, JMonkey? If you want a really enjoyable food experience that will open up choices then eat a banana split. You got your banana (that is healthy), your ice cream, chocolate syrup, nuts (they are healthy) and whatever else that you choose. That is dessert after eating your meat.

I'm a terribly fussy and uncultured eater, and I don't really have a sweet tooth. Maybe one day I'll eat Monkey Brains, I doubt it, but you never know.

I heard somewhere that monkey brains go good with fava beans. I bet that monkey brains are good brain food. I saw Indiana Jones eating it and he is smart, even though he named himself after his dog, Indiana. I grew up eating a lot of chopped chicken liver.

I don't follow the blood type diet but have noticed that people with type O do much worse on a vegetarian diet whereas those with type A or AB seem to thrive. It isn't based on anything scientific, just my own experience and asking almost anyone with whom the topic of diet comes up.

Interesting. I've been vegetarian for over a year also. Not for compassionate reasons, I just stopped enjoying the taste / texture. Growing up in a household where we had long periods of vegetarianism was probably a factor also. When I was about 2-3 months into not eating meat, I mistakenly had some meat (I asked the waiter if the soup had chicken broth in it, he said no, but it actually did). I got really sick afterwards.

(I'm type A btw).

I have heard of the blood type diet theory, and must say when I tried veggie, vegan, and a raw diet I did not feel well. When I added meat back to my diet I felt good again. Some people will say that meat has nothing in it that plants don't, well I beg to differ, because I felt my health improve, and my blood work became better soon as I started eating meat again. I'm a type o blood type.

Isn't the most reported reaction to eating meat again feeling bad and feeling sick? Congratulations on your test of meat eating. Now, decisions, decisions, decisions!

I'm a type A that does badly on a non-meat diet.

People who report feeling ill eating meat after not eating it for a while probably are no longer making the enzymes that help you digest it.

It's best to eat meat with bone broth, or a sauce made with bone broth. It's great for digestion.

Thank goodness, I am going to try a 30 day trial of Vegan diet, and I am Blood type O+. I have read the "eat right for your type" info, and understand that they recommend O types eat meat.

Lets see if I can handle the vegan diet for a month (Starting Dec 1st), from eating meat probably at lunch and dinner every day.... should be good.

Although the theory behind the blood type diet makes sense, I don't think it makes your digestive system any more omnivorous than someone with blood type A, so while there may be some truth behind the blood type diet, maybe, there is still no reason why a blood type O can't be a vegan successfully.

I was vegetarian for consecutive 3 years and vegan for 6 months before things got bad for me. After just one month you'll probably feel better since most people have some significant detox necessary. Laying off hard to digest stuff like meat really helps in that area.

What I have noticed is that my body needs much less meat than my mind would have me believe. A couple times a month is fine for me.

I would love to get to the point where my body is fine living off of prana, for example. However, forcing it to that point won't help which is why I've just decided to take the path of least resistance and follow what my body asks for.

How do you feel about it a few days on, Seeker?

Same here. I've followed a number of different eating styles, and generally feel best on one that includes at least some rare/raw meat along with lots of steamed veggies. A couple times a month I have some rare lamb, stop by the oyster bar, or go out for sushi.

It'd be nice to not have to eat, just doing it on an as desired basis. Being nomadic would be much easier if you never had to worry about running out of fuel.

Nothing special really. Good health, 40ish , 3 kids, 5'10", 138 lbs.
Pretty average diet except no meat. Lots of beans, lentils, whole grains, quinoa, tofu, veggies. Some low fat dairy. I try to take a B12 supplement but I forget 75% of the time.
Excercise is two x 30 min walks a day (dogs), 7 flights of stairs about 6 times a day (at work - try to take them two at a time when I'm up to it), and light weights 3x per week.
Sleep is a problem - lol. I have to get up at 4:30 4 X a week for various commitments so I always seem to need more than I get. But I do make time to meditate 2 X 30 mins every day.

O+ here. I eat anything, but typically have some meat 4-5 days a week. I've done raw for a little bit, was feeling ok, but lost too much weight. I just go off my cravings now.

I agree with another poster who said blood type is not an indicator of what diet you should/will eat. But blood type is a reflection of something in our beingness. There's four blood types... four directions (Native American spirituality), four seasons..., catch my drift? I wondering if there's a link there somewhere.

Update: I searched and found some information here and here and here.
