The other thing that strikes me as odd about the "tastes bad therefore it is bad" argument is that we learn our tastes in large part. I think raw meat isn't something that has to taste bad. People dislike it because they're culturally trained to dislike it. Cooking meat makes sense, culturally, most of all because humans store food, and we could get sick from meat we've kept too long. Doesn't make fresh meat bad for you.

Yes, because of inherent genetic error i believe. Which could come about from a bad diet to begin with. All horses eat their instinctive diet, if they dont, for some reason, under natural conditions, they die. |

Think of all the jobs that are lost if this turns out to be true. If truth really is that the raw diet is the optimal one for the human being. Something the government is NOT interested in getting out, certainly NOT something the healthcare industry wish to come out, and certainly certainly not something the proccssed food industry wish to become general knowledge. |

There are many other species of animals that have adapted new diets. Yes there are many that selectively feast on only a certain variety of foods, but if your argument is that every single species can only eat a certain diet, it can not be correct.

Start a raw food diet, and a load of different things can happen depending on a million factors. For instance, I have a sensitive intestine condition. I love the feeling of lightness and vitality that raw living food gives me. Unfortunately, I overload on fibre and my gut will kill me. On the other hand, a soup made from boiled liquidized vegetables makes me feel great, because the heat breaks down the cell walls and makes it all very very digestable. I do know heating creates acrylamides, breaks down a load of vitamins, and all sorts of things, but it ain't all black and white you know. And who are we to say what's "natural", maybe it's natural to use our brains and use tools to effect the best solution with what's given to us. We were made to rise above simple survival and express ourselves in deeper ways. I think we shouldn't ask what's natural - killing is quite natural after all - but what's harmonious with nature; our nature, that of our bodies, that of our souls, and the nature of what's around us.

Another factor with diet is that different people might have different goal utility functions. You have to eat a different diet to maximize your daily energy than to maximize your lifespan. Are there raw foodists who eat something like a historically local season dependent diet?
