The best way to evaluate your chances of getting a disease is to look at health statistics in your area of the country. For instance, you're highly unlikely to be exposed to rabid bats in most urban areas.

True - but my question to you was if you were exposed would you get the shots and you said no. That's what he was commenting on I think.

FWIW I do live in a urban area - well suburban actually - in Canada.

It's in some of the multi-dose containers for DTaP, DTaP-Hib, Td, Hib, etc. (vaccines commonly given to children).

This file contains all the wonderful "side" ingredients in vaccines:

Vaccine Excipient and Media Summary, by Excipient

(This is the from the 2009 "Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases" pink book that the CDC publishes.)

The entry for thimerosal is on page 5.

It says that even some of the single-dose vaccines contain it, but doesn't list them.
The FDA site I looked at stated flat-out that it has been removed from childhood vaccines, but I notice also when looking at the Johns Hopkins vaccine listings that contain thimerosal they show "trace amounts" in the ones you mention, although they don't include Hib.

I know very little about this subject and am not going to pursue it further. Carry on!

Default Hospitals can make you sick

Unfortunately, hospitals are one of the worst places to pick up illness.. because there's so much sickness there!

We stay away from doctors and hospitals as much as possible, since we have found that most illnesses will heal themselves.

My 20 year old daughter just got her first vaccines ever.. and that was only because she's overseas right now preparing for mission work; traveling to Egypt, Thailand, Africa, etc.

She's based in Germany, and quite frankly, if she stayed in Germany, we wouldn't have filled her with vaccines.

Default Opps

Looks like I got so excited about my opinion on vaccines and hospitals that I didn't really answer the question.. opps

NO.. personally, I would not vaccinate even if I was exposed to a doctor or anyone else with the virus.

When I replied, I was thinking about how it's recommended that people get the vaccines before any exposure.

In the remote chance that I get bitten by a rabid animal, something I'm not counting on every happening, I'd call my anti-vaccine doctor and get his opinion first on the best course of action.

That sounds nice! But I was thinking more downtown L.A. or Tokyo.

I wonder why the FDA and CDC have different information on this? You'd think they'd be on the same page, especially since a lot of people are concerned about thimerosal in vaccines.

This is why it's important to DYODD—do your own due diligence. Because even the "experts" can't get their stories straight.
