I've been wanting to try out raw foods for a while now. I'm not thinking about going raw permanently, I just want to try out some new dishes now and again. I'm looking for a good cookbook for raw foods with recipies that are easy to make, don't make use of too many rare fruits and vegetables and don't need too much fancy equipment. It would also be nice if they are affordable too. Does anybody know of any good ones? |

The easiest one for me is Amazon.com: Raw Food Made Easy For 1 or 2 People: Jennifer Cornbleet: Books It has lots of good but simple recipes. Most take me about 15 minutes to make. However, I don’t use that cookbook as often. It was great when I first went raw, but now I find myself really enjoying these 2 Amazon.com: I Am Grateful: Recipes and Lifestyle of Cafe Gratitude: Terces Engelhart, Orchid: Books and Amazon.com: Sweet Gratitude: A New World of Raw Desserts: Matthew Rogers, Tiziana Alipo Tamborra: Books they are a bit more complicated (takes 20 minutes for the average recipe) but so much more flavorful and enjoyable for me. These 2 books call for raw food staples that are not typically found in a normal grocery store but are easy to get online or at whole foods. However these staples that most raw food people have (raw nuts, raw cacao powered, raw nori, etc). Some of the recipes also use Irish moss which I have fallen in love with. I order that from purejoyplanet online. For all 3 of these cookbooks it helps to have a vita mix blender and a food processor. However for the last 2 some of the stuff requires a dehydrator. Hope that helps! |

With all these books, which one do you choose. There is only one M.D. that promotes an all raw diet. Here is his book. If someone says that you are nuts for wanting to eat all raw then you can tell them that this doctor is a psychiatrist. He is also a rabbi and a yogi. Gabriel Cousens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Amazon.com: Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine: Gabriel Cousens "This eclectic cookbook shares 250 delicious vegan recipes from chefs at the Tree of Life Cafe. Dishes include Avocado Salad with Rosemary, Green Dragon Broccoli, Raw-violis, Lavender Milk, and Carob Coconut Cream Eclairs." "The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center is the world’s leading spiritual, vegan raw and live food retreat center. It was founded in 1993 to promote spiritual awakening and to support an inspiring, healthy and “alive” lifestyle through education and first-hand experience." "Gabriel Cousens, M.D., has once again contributed to the much-needed re-education of humanity. The research and practical advice, along with the recipes from the Tree of Life Cafe in Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine, help people awaken to a new understanding and regain control of their internal environment." —Christopher Yashpal Jayne, N.D. Hi, A great raw food recipe book is Yuri Elkaim's "Eating For Energy". It has a LOT of recipes, and they are simple to make! You can find it here if you scroll down to Recipes: The Raw Food Store! |

I have often been frustrated by raw food cookbooks because either their ingredients were more exotic than I could come by easily, or the recipes were not something I could make when I was actually hungry. When it's 8 o'clock at night and I'm starving, beyond just picking up an apple or eating a bunch of greens, I want to know ways to prepare tasty raw meals. I'm very much into creating those kinds of recipes. I also have many free recipes, for smoothies for example, and a mad-crazy-good dark chocolate recipe. Please do stop by and see if there's anything you might find valuable for your raw foods arsenal! Last edited by Angela Leeds; 11-05-2009 at 01:21 AM. | |
