Default What shows your REAL physical image?

I am very unsure of what I REALLY look like, yes there is another thread about this, but this one is like exact answer.

What shows your REAL PHYSICAL IMAGE?

Mirror?
Camera Picture?
Video Camcorder image?
Phone camera image?
Phone video recorder image?
Reflection from a car window?
Reflection from a building window?
Reflection from car side mirrors?

I ask this because in ALL those I stated up there, I look DIFFERENT, and I'm really confused. I am 19 years old and male. I don't know my real image.

Thanks a lot, sorry if this is a weird thread.

There is no such thing as an objective image of what you look like.
Your appearance depends on the viewer and the method of viewing.

What's more important than your objective appearance is how you feel about your appearance. If you don't like something, then change it. If you are happy with how you look, you will feel more comfortable around others and they will like you more too. The best thing to do is make yourself look the way you want to look, and you will attract other people who connect with your genuine self.

You don't know whether an apple looks different to you and to me.

Irrelevant.

Don't be so self-conscious. (Yeah, as if that statement is going to help eh?)

Just realize that everyone looks different, and you look like you, and it doesn't actually matter how you look -- your brain wants to think that it does, by comparing itself to famous people and people in magazines, etc.

You can mess with whats in your own power, that's cool:
- lift weights and get buff
- wear cool clothes
- do your hair however you want

But theres stuff thats just as it is, and let it be.

When you stop worrying about this kind of stuff, you'll be able to think about and work on more important things.

Well for me, a camera picture is still which makes it very easy to see I have a bent nose. Other than that, I don't look different when I look in a mirror opposed to a car window. I think you're just worrying a bit about your appearance , which I think is totally normal and most people probably go through a stage of it.

The reason you see yourself differently in those different surfaces is because when your brain expects to see something, you see what you already expect to see instead of what's really there. When you look in a mirror, your brain knows you're going to see your own face. So you see what you believe your face looks like. A lot of learning to be an artist is training yourself to see what's really there instead of what your brain expects.

So if you really care, a camera will give you a much more reliable picture than a mirror. If you can put it on your computer and flip the image, that'll help a lot too. Rotate it, flip it horizontally, invert the colors, anything like that and you'll be closer to seeing what's really there.

ah, i think I know what you're saying... from your first thread I thought it was a sign of poor self esteem. I have a friend who looks different in every single one of his photos. Not a little different, like a completely different person if that's believable. I remember one of his friends commenting, 'i like this photo of you, it actually looks like you' and I thought so too. so maybe ask a friend? or a video recording, outside in good lighting. but dont become obsessed! AND i do think you should still just listen to an audio about confidence. Like I said, I didn't even know i had an issue with self esteem. Maybe you'll learn to love ALL of your faces

best of luck to you!

That´s life...

You have good hair days and bad hair days..

Everybody has that. Usually I look bad in pictures (although I believe I look good in real life) and every now and then there is a picture that I look good in. It is just a matter the light being exactly right, your head exactly turned the right way, wearing the right clothes, having the right expression, just starting to blink with your eyes etc.

You can't ALWAYS look good. Ever heard of the expression ' bad hair day' it was born from women all over the world thinking they look bad at certain times...it's usually in the eye of the beholder, and like I said in your other thread, if you make a conscious effort to not put so much of your focus, which it sure seems you are putting all your focus on at the moment, on just your appearance, then you will find that it won't be at the forefront of your mind as it currently is.

I mean, try and take a step back and look at everything going on around you. Human dramas, people dying, people starving and homeless. These are things that can help put your stuff into perspective, and you'll realize it's not as important as you are making it out to be.

Maybe you should concern yourself with something else. You were made so that you can never see yourself. That is how you were designed. You will age and look different and you will die. Lying on your death bed will you care what you look like or wonder what you should have done with this precious gift of life.
