Default Interesting

That was a very interesting read. It makes a lot scense. I loved his desciption of what they were doing to him.

I cant imagine trying to sleep and relax in that room.

On the artical. I love to move around. It makes me want to up my workout hours more. I have been thinking about this for a while, but this is even more reason.

Great article!

I've always been very skinny and so I looked into possible reasons why. This is the first article that includes all the metabolic effects that I discovered. I often joke that my digestive system works so quickly that I can eat heaps and not put on weight because a lot of the calories are burnt up in getting those calories out of the food quickly It was interesting to discover that there's a kernel of truth in that

(I've also joked that I've got hollow legs. I'm not sure I want to find any truth in that... )

The same goes for NEAT. I fidget constantly. I probably burn more calories while seated than some people do standing up and moving around Practicing static yoga and kung fu stances while doing the dishes or on the computer also helps. But a vertical desk would be fantastic.

You can get standing desks from quite a number of companies already, just without the treadmill. Donald Rumsfeld actually uses one as his normal workdesk, as did Lincoln for a large part of his life. They used to be very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. The only real problem with them is the price. When I looked for one last (I currenlty use one made out of a kitchen counter-top and 2x4s built by me) they were in the $1200+ range.

$1200+?! Without a treadmill? Yikes! I actually have a ~$AU250 Ikea desk that can be raised or lowered (with an allen key and a spare 30 mins or so). It's marketed towards graphic artists.

But I don't know how I'd get a treadmill under there and still be able to see/reach the controls.
