Hey there, I've just turned 28, and I've started receding, my hairs quite thick though, so you wouldn't notice. But does this mean I'll keep losing my hair eventually? or probably not.. I'm not massively receding, and my hairs quite thick so you wouldn't notice, I like to keep it longish, and thick and it curly

I'm 16 and I've been told I have a receding hairline. It's no major problem and it could just be that it's always looked like it, maybe you're only noticing it now? I doubt either of us will go bald at least until we are very old.

My hair started receding at a very young age (before I even started high school). For years I was very self-conscious about it, wearing a hat whenever possible. I suppose I was worried about what others thought, especially since I was so young. Finally I realized that anyone who would think different about me because of how much hair I had wasn't the type I person that I cared what they thought. I have been much happier since then, and rarely even think about how much hair I do (or do not) have. I just turned 30, so am not much older than you. My suggestion is to not worry about it. Let nature run its course, and be happy with whatever happens.

Yep, I always had a widows peak, but I'm definitely recending more than I was at high school.. I doubt I'll go bald, maybe I'll recede more, but hopefully I'll have longish hair all my life.. so won't have to worry. Yeah, I guess the thing about this thread is, nobody's gonna be mean and say "Yes, this definitely means you'll go bald" lol

If you're noticing a difference, then yeah, it's likely that you'll lose your hair eventually. A really big tell is if you wake up and find gobs of hair on your pillow. There's a guy at work who is going bald and this is one of the things he talks about. But his has started in the back of his head and is working it's way forward. If you're noticing it in the front (as in it's starting to make an "M" pattern) then it may not go all the way back. I knew an old guy whose hairline receded a little bit, but he didn't go bald either.

How much hair you lose really depends on the power of your mind i reckon. I'm 22 and i've been experiencing hair loss for about 2 or 3 years. One thing i noticed is that the rate of it increased for me this year when i started to become distressed about it. My hair still looks fine (although it is noticeable now, unlike previously), but as soon as i started to get down and negative about it, then it started to spiral. The reality is, if you can't imagine yourself going bald, then you probably wont. If you visualize your true self, with a thick head of hair, then that will manifest as reality. And the good news is, if you ARE receding BUT your hair is still thick anyway, then that's good news. I envy that. There are treatments you can apply to stop the rate of loss and even regrow however. And the sooner you get onto it, the more likely you are to regrow and recover follicles. Curious? |

I've lost most of my hair from the time I was 23 to now (32).. went pretty fast at first. It really depressed me until I realized that I had two choices: Use a product like propecia and stop the hair loss, but maybe suffer serious side-effects, or.. accept that I was going to lose my hair eventually. I chose the latter and haven't looked back. Now I keep the remaining hair at 6mm and love how easy it is to keep .. and no amount of visualizing is going to stop the hair loss. There's a perfectly good scientific explanation for why this happens to about 50% of all men. Which is why products like propecia work. |

| Be aware the the primary genes for baldness are sex-linked (that's why women don't go bald) and heritable from your mother. So looking at your father's hair is next to useless, as is your maternal grandfather. Your brothers, and male relatives on your mother's side who may share your X chromosome are predictive in proportion to the probability they share it (ie. 0.5 for brothers).

there a few natural supplements that can help with an every receding hairline. These include Biotin (a B vitmain to help strengthen hair and induce follicles to produce hair) and Silica which helps with strengthening collagen in the skin as well as hair roots.

You can slow down the loss with better diet and brushing your hair to help circulation. It has also been proven that you can completely stop your hair loss by getting castrated. The testosterone is causing the receding hairline. I wonder if the phyto- estrogen in soy would slow it down.

If you do start to go bald, do what all the guys over here (UK) do and crop it off really short (No 2? serious clipper job anyway) as soon as it looks at all thin or receeded. Looks *infinitely* better than any other option. In a previous job I could always spot the Americans/Canadians cos they didn't seem to do this....

Thanks for the tip though. The thing is I'd look really weird without hair because I have such a boyish face, and my hair seems to be my best feature, which is why I was worried

On a serious note though, I'm not that worried about losing hair, it was just the first sign that I'm receding a little bit, so I got a little bit worried..

Actually, it's very possible to lead a perfectly normal sex life with no testicles, if you just supplement with testosterone. I know quite a few two time testicular cancer survivors who live great lives that way. They might even have some advantages compared to normal men - they'll have a constant level of testosterone throughout life and avoid the decline in t-levels that men normally experience (commonly known as the "male menopause"). Ok, way off-topic.. it's just interesting Quote:

Reminded me of a quote from Dilbert blog by Scott Adams. He says, "If you are very fit physically, people do not notice if you are bald." I think it makes sense. Bruce Willis comes to mind.
