I've tried juicing and I liked spinach with carrots, but I've never tried a smoothie, especially spinach with bananas! I'll let you know how I like it... and thanks for the warning!

Default Detox! argh!

Because I'm not transferring to 100% raw but only add 2 smoothies a day to my diet I thought I would have only a mild detox. But yesterday I felt like crap, didn't have any energy to do sports and woke up 4 or 5 times at night.

Also my stool lost all of its color.

I didn't expect that

Yeah, I usually use coconut water, tastes great, and is supposedly really hydrating to boot!

You need to jack up the fresh greens and fruit in your diet. Buy a blender -- start making live green smoothies. It doesn't take long, is easy to clean up, you can pour over ice into water bottles and take with you to work, and it won't interfere with your family's meal prep.

These will change your digestion and your skin, guaranteed. If you need some recipe ideas, I have many free green smoothie recipes on my website.

This is an EASY change you can, with great results you can feel, and you can get started asap! Best wishes to ya.

Angela,

The lost posts are all about those green smoothies. I'm already taking them I'll check the link. Thanks for the post!

If there are some skin changes, when will this be visible? At this moment I'm getting some more acne, probably due to the detox period.

Oh...brilliant! Am so glad to hear. I think I read the first page of posts... sorry I missed the last ones!

As for skin, can't say when you'll see a difference as each person is an individual WRT their healing and detox, but stick with it and I'm sure you'll see a turnaround. Keep your face clean, stay with the smoothies... you will notice a difference eventually.

For my part, I always tend to notice a change in my skin VERY quickly when I jack up the live green smoothies. First some energy & well-being, then the skin. And pay attention to the skin & pores around your nose. As your digestion picks up and cleans out your system, you will see these become finer and clearer.

Just stay with it. Well done!

At this moment I'm not feeling anything anymore because of a cold that isn't going away :/ It makes me tired. I hope it will go away in a couple of days, but I already have this for 2 weeks or so.

Hi Majesticzero,

I'm kinda late here but just wanted to say:

- about your original diet: yeah, definitely cut down the whole lot of bread! If you want carbs, eat fruit.
- about green smoothies: I have a book about green smoothies, in all recipes they add "2 cups of water". Maybe this would make them less heavy.

Good luck!

Thanks for the response! Could you tell me the name of that book? And how much is a cup? At this moment I add around 200 ml water to my smoothies.

I have no clue how much a cup is. We don't measure things in cups here. Maybe two cups are the equivalent of two cups of tea, or two glasses of water? I'd say 400ml but I don't know. Experiment.

The book is Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko. It's not a recipe book. In most of the book, she explains why green smoothies are so great for health. At the end of the book there's a small section with green smoothie recipes.

If you want some of them, PM me.

If I remember correctly a cup is just slightly less than one fourth of a liter.

Ah! That's what I thought, a cup is probably about 200ml. Thanks Gene.

Edit: This thread inspired me! I feel like buying a Vitamix and making green smoothies now. So, thanks Majesticzero!

I have 2 new questions

One:

Isn't eating 8 bananas each day bad for someone?

Two:

My 10 am and 3 pm meals are now Green Smoothies, it feels much better than eating bread. I still am a little tired, so I hope this will change the next week. Next is changing my breakfast. I eat around 300-500 kCal for breakfast and want to change this to around 1000 kCal with raw food. Any tips for me? I don't want an Smoothie-only diet I guess. Chewing is also needed in my opinion.

Majesticzero, how do *you* feel when you eat 8 bananas? If you feel great and it works for you... it's good. Some people are big into bananas. You might be one of them.

As for a raw breakfast... I found that I just loved raw oatmeal in the mornings when I first went raw. I would soak steel-cut oatmeal overnight, make fresh almond, pecan, or pumpkin seed milk in the morning, strain the oatmeal, pour the milk over it, garnish with my favorite sweetener and some dried cherries, pistachios and pecans... and I was in heaven. It's absolutely delicious.

Do you think you might like that?

Default cup size - in nz anyway

Hi there. One cup is 250ml in NZ (that may not help at all)

I am looking at switching to a raw diet for the month of December. I bought a blender today! So far I have switched to having one raw meal per day (lunch). At the end of this next coming week I will add green smoothies and fruit as my breakfast, then raw lunch, whatever for tea, currently my snacks consist of fruit.

Come December will try the whole raw diet dealio, although I have 3 Christmas dinners to attend, so that may mess up my plan.

Have been reading through all the green smoothie recipes on here - thanks and I am looking forward to trying them out myself!

Thanks for the responses!

I changed my breakfast today from:
- 4 slices of bread with tomato and cucumber
to:
- 100 grams of muesli with water (which I didn't really like)
- 2 bananas
- 1 mango (a pain in the ass to get it in peaces because of the pit)
- 1 apple (no I didn't eat my computer)

I feel really full now. It was around 850 kcal. A lot better than the 350 of my previous breakfast.

One question: I'm still having a cold after 2 weeks. Is this normal? The color of the ( what is is called.. mucus I think in english? or just slime?) is white. My tongue is also white. Anyone has a clue? It's really bad when I wake up. Later on it gets better but every morning it's back to bad again.

8 bananas is fine. There's nothing in them that's bad for you, unless you are specifically allergic to them.

I'm wary to say 'It's not a cold, it's detox." but I'm not sure how accurate it is. I do know though, that it goes away if you drink more water. It lessened off after 2 weeks for me.

Thank you Parthon for the response!

The first thing I thought was detox too but I'm not real sure. I got Pueraria Nasal, it's a mix of herbals to get rid of the cold. I will also think about drinking more water, thank you!

Default I've been on a Veggie diet...

But with Fish added just because Fish is a very good source of Omega 3 and good for brain and heart health. I feel that i had a lot of ready energy when i ate like this and recommend that you also either drink a glass of water with lemon before your meal or at least 10 mins. after your meal. believe it or not, but this helps immensely with digestion. The lemon in the water actually helps normalize the natural ph balance of acidity within your body as well.

Also, this diet, you want to add a healthy plate of greens and vegetables for each meal, even breakfast. Also, go easy of the carbs within this type of eating plan as they are quite a few fat vegetarians.

You will feel better for yourself and this type of eating will help you to release many toxins naturally.

I would like to change my diet on some points and see if I feel better about it. And of course I hope to improve my health!

Some points to keep in mind:
- My intestines don't work optimal because of an infection I had. But it's getting better. So health is also improving.
- 3 days a week weightlifting (so I need a lot of carbs, calories and protein).
- I live at my parents house. So I can't change my dinner, I need to eat what they eat.
- I have a lot of acne on my shoulders. It probably because of the infection because it's getting less. But it could be from food also.\
- I eat lunch together with the company I work for, they order food, so I can't change that to much.

Here is what I eat:

breakfast:
4 slices of bread with cucumber and tomato

10 am:
3 slices of bread with turkey breast

lunch:
4 slices of bread with peanut butter

3 pm:
3 slices of bread with turkey breast

6 pm:
what my parents eat. Usually potatoes with vegetables all cooked. and sometimes meat (often pig).

10 pm: (only after workouts)
2 slices of bread with peanut butter

It could be a lot worse of course. But it can also be a lot better. Some more variation would be good. But also a lot less bread.
I also need to change my breakfast because my dokter (chinese medicine) told me that it's not good to eat something that is that cold right after I get out of bed. She said it drains my energy for the rest of the day.

The reason why I eat also at 10 am and 3 pm is because of sports. I burn extremely much calories every time I do sports, so I need to eat a lot. And my muscles also need to grow... and that also means eating a lot!

I would like to start with changing my breakfast and meals at 10 am and 3 pm. I would like to eat more quality food.

Do you have any advise for me? Maybe rawfood or something vegetarian?
Maybe something else?

I'm completely new to rawfood/vegetarian food so that's why I ask you people I'm also searching on google for more information

You have the right idea with the many small meals a day. GET OFF THE BREAD!!! Several people have made very good suggestions.

I am a National-level Figure Competitor, and I am mostly raw, but get plenty of great protein from many sources. I have made tremendous gains just in the past few months, and am thrilled with the results. I even surprised my coaches with how fast I improved, because they are not familiar with raw foods!

I would love to help you. Check out my site at Defiant Health and contact me anytime!

Blessings!

New Recipe:

I started experimenting with food combining so instead of the apple and banana, I use carrot juice! It sweetens and is compatable with green vegetables ;~)

Kale
Collards
CARROT JUICE
Stevia (add to taste)

sometimes I add chard and spinach too, but kale and collards are the staples ;~)

Enjoi!

It's a big change, Majesticzero... and IME, although ultimately the change increases your energy, at first it really tends to make you fatigued because (my interpretation, after having gone on and off a number of times...) you're body seems to say: "Okay, sit tight... thanks for giving us all these great nutrients and Life Force to work with... clearly you want us to get to work here, so, that's what we're gonna do. You just lie down, take it easy, don't overdue things... we're gonna use all the energy available to clean, detox, build, heal, declutter, reorganize... whatever we can get done with all the good stuff you've sent our way!"

That's what I hear, anyway...

Hang in there. Just stay with your habit. The arc of change will work for you over the long haul.

I started on 10-31-2009. It's 12-17-2009 now, and my energy is a lot better BUT my stool is still not as it should be. Also if I take a smoothie most of the time I need to go to the bathroom right afterwards... that doesn't seem right. I also hope to find something else with a lot of calories from carbs than bananas... I eat 8 - 10 bananas each day, and that is a little much I think.
