Default Bread...good for you or not...

I eat quite a lot of bread, not white bread, but the type with more grain and fiber. Usually with different kinds of topping, like butter, cheese, cucumber, tomato, eggs, ham and more.

Is this good for you, or should I try to change my diet?

I do eat all kinds of other stuff too...it's not like it's all bread.

Raw bread is good for you. There are recipes on internet for it. The bread with different whole grains (no refined grains like wheat or duram wheat semolina) that are sprouted is healthier than all the others that you can buy.

Go Phillies!

I like bread, a lot.

White bread is quite bad for you I think, but brown bread can be good for you. I can get a slice of brown bread with just 100 cals and 5 gs of protein. I wouldn't eat lots of bread, but some is definately ok. If you make bread yourself you can do it with like 4 ingrediants, and it tastes so much sweeter.

Hope this helped

i could live on bread (probably not for very long tho')

i do eat it....whole grain and seeded from bakery...usually with polnar all fruit or sunflower butter.

try to always eat it early in day.

except when out to eat...sucker for garlic rolls...but in moderation.

GO YANKEES!

Keep in mind commercially made bread is very processed, so it's basically just a big loaf of starch. Starch isn't bad by itself, as long as it's not eaten in excess. I don't think I'd call bread a top heath food though.

I used to eat whole grain bread for breakfast, but then I tried oat flakes with milk or yogurt and kind of stuck to it.
I do eat bread from time to time, but I don't really miss it.

I am French and vegan. Bread is the last of my "cultural" foods that I still love (well, that and wine). In my opinion what you put on bread is likely to be the unhealthy choice, not the bread itself. But remember to vary your carbs - don't base all your meals around bread.

I think the first thing to worry about if you want to improve your diet is going vegan! That's my personal belief, though there are people who think otherwise. You might want to try researching it.

I think in general, wholegrain bread is quite healthy. In my case, I feel better if it's well toasted - I think there are lots of anti-nutrients in wheat that need to be destroyed by heat.

From what I hear, spelt is healthier than wheat. The raw food diet is supposed to be even healthier, and a lot of variations of that diet are grain-free.

As for me, I am a vegan who eats a little bit of whatever. At my current diet level, I don't feel like it's worth it to try and eat spelt or raw bread. When I have more time and energy in the future, I suppose I'll make an extra push to improve my diet, then who knows.

Good luck,

Andrew

The Heart Scan Blog

This website convinced me that all wheat products are unhealthy. Many people have gluten intolerance. Wheat is what elevates cholesterol, not meat. The doctor on the website has an agenda but he shows dramatic improvements in health when his patients do nothing more than give up bread, pasta, etc. So far it has prevented canker sores, something I've been plagued with since high school. I also seem to have lost weight but I don't have a scale to document it. I just notice my pants are looser. He talks a lot about "Wheat belly". the midsection accumilation of fat that decreases when not eating bread.

I agree with this... I think about how much processing happens from the grain to the loaf. Personally, I like bread and things like pizza made with dough but I feel my best when I am not eating it. I also think that the hybridization of wheat has caused even further difficulties...

Whole foods are best
