Default Find it hard to wake up? Have an iPod Touch/iPhone?

I recently found an app for my iPod touch that is called, "Easy Wakeup." With this app, I have been able to wake up alert and awake.
How it does this is it senses your movement in bed at night. You have to place the iDevice near your body to be able to get good readings. Then, through algorithms incorporating your movement into an REM pattern (or something like that... ), it wakes you up in the morning sometime on an 30-minute time interval for a better, more refreshing awakening than your alarm clock interrupting your fantasy dream of a hot chick/man turned on by you.

It's a completely new experience to wake up every morning to one of my favorite songs that can be played from your music library feeling alert and ready. I also never knew I moved so much in my sleep .

It's $15 bucks for the full edition on the App Store, $10 for the AE (less features..?), and $12 for classic, which is for iPhone OS 2.2. It's worth it, if you ask me .

(Better than fart apps :\)

Your body will wake up when it has had enough sleep. Do you think that if nothing wakes you up, you will end up sleeping 20 hours?

Ginkgo, it's not that I would oversleep, which I do quite often, but rather waking up at a good time in REM sleep to feel alert and rested. Not to mention people need to get up at certain times to do stuff, eg, go to school. Our bodies are not trained to wake up on a certain time.

Why do you have to contradict me everytime?

There was a similar system marketed not too long ago and a thread on here about it.
It was a watch which did the same thing. It sensed movement levels and from that and timing between phases calculated the optimal time to wake you up closest to the time you have set.
It's a good system if you need to wake up before a certain time. If it works for you that is.
Given our environments and our physiological responses to different stimulus, our body may be fine without that extra cycle of sleep, but if it's quiet in the room and the room is dark, the body might just take that extra cycle.
Sounds like this app is much cheaper than the original watch system and effective.

You've never indulged in the ecstacy and euphoria of just lying in bed? Don't tell me you are one of those robots that jumps up fully charged the instant your optical sensors blink on. You can most certainly oversleep. Getting the willpower to get your lazy bum out of bed once you do naturally wake up is the hardest part. Using an app like this might help because it might help you to feel refreshed when you wake up and since you believe it's going to have an effect on your energy level, you are more likely to take that step and get out of bed. Maybe the app is really just a placebo, but if it gets you out of bed, then it's got to be a winner.

BTW, I found a similar app that is free. It checks your movements in bed I think. Or maybe it's your breathing. Anyway, that's how it determines the best time for you to wake up. I don't use it because it has to pretty much be on your mattress with you and I like to move my pillow around and I know I'll end up knocking it on the floor.

Whoops. Sorry. I knew I forgot something.

Sleep Cycle.

Dagnabit it's not free any more. It's 99 cents. It might go on sale again though. Put it in your wishlist on App Shopper: iPhone Apps, Deals and Discovery If you search for it in the app store you'll actually find several other similar apps. Maybe one of those will work better than Sleep Cycle.

EDIT: Wow! Magic Alarm Clock seems really cool. And it's only 99 cents too.

Cool! I actually sleep with my iPod touch in bed with me (unless my gf is in bed), because I use an app called "Sleep Machine" that makes white noise. You can combine all sorts of noises (waterfall, blow dryer, etc.) to get it just right.

I might use this as well (though I can only have one app going at a time )

Just buy a regular white noise machine. Probably can find one at Wal-mart or Costco. Maybe even Home Depot.

Magic Alarm Clock has that capability, plus the REM wakeup feature.
