Default alzheimers and conscious living

I saw this article on yahoo, which states that alzheimers is on the rise, and faster than predicted. they say the numbers will double every 20 years or something like that. This gave way to a theory...that alzheimers (indeed, many other diseases as well) may be proliferating as the general populace leads progressivly more mindless lives. it has been shown that people who use their brains more are less likely to develop alzheimers, so it only makes sense that leading a deliberate life of high awareness, as opposed to living as a socially programmed automaton, could have a direct connection to mental health in old age. concurrences? digressions? criticisms?

There is the theory among spiritual types that those who develop Alzheimer's Disease are simply looking to take the path of least resistance from this life into the next. This resonates with me, especially if I think of how afraid most people are of death.

I heard that dementia is on the rise as well, and the headline described it as "startling". Why should it be startling?

Actually you are supposed to exercise your brain. One way is to play sudoku. Exercising your body also helps your brain.

Default Real Causes for the Epidemic of Alzheimer's

This is one of those things where there is such a long lag-time between cause and effect, it will probably never be determined for sure. But here goes!

Environmental threats that do damage to your brain function include food additives like MSG and aspartame, vaccines, mercury, aluminum (as in deodorants), fluoride (as in drinking water), electromagnetic radiation from power lines and appliances, wireless technology and cellphones. I'm sure I've left out a few.

All of these toxins are increasing by the day, exponentially. Scientists estimate that we are being exposed to 100 million times more radiation than our grandparents ever were. I expect the rate of neurological diseases to continue to grow out of control, because these threats are not going to be handled anytime soon.

The best defense is to avoid electrical fields and wireless technology as much as possible, don't eat processed food, avoid vaccinations at all costs, filter your water, and get lots of antioxidants into your diet. Antioxidants that are good for the brain include ginkgo, curcumin, astaxanthin, cinnamon, coenzyme Q-10, vitamin E, Resverastrol, alpha-lipoic acid, and green tea extracts.

switch off your sat nav etc. these kind of things (imo) are making people less smart. not necessarily less intelligent, but their minds aren't working as often as they used to be. It's no surprise that people are getting more mental issues

your brain is like a muscle, use it or lose it.
