I am a big fan of meat, fish and eggs. Not necessarily for the taste, but for the proteins, amino acids, and other good stuff I get from them. I continue to be a big fan of them. It bothers me that the meat industry is totally ****ed up and most likely I am consuming a fair few nasty hormones/chemicals along with them - ce la vie. However the other day it just so happend that I had a morning of just eating berries and fruit. Dunno how it happened, it was just one of those things. And in the evening... holy ****. My testosterone was clearly up, my sex-drive was raging (even though I'd masturbated the previous day), and I basically felt incredibly vigorous in general. Now I'm not saying at this stage that the two events are linked, but I'm willing to examine further. I am currently thinking a day of maybe a morning of fruit and an afternoon meal with brocolli, carrots, something like that. Will do strictly for one day a week - starting next week, will trial for 4 weeks. |

If you look around at government sites and webmd, there is a big promotion to eat more fruits and vegetables. Amino acids and protein are the same thing. Americans eat 5 times the protein that they need. Protein deficiency is unknown in the civilized world. The American Dietetic Association says that vegans that eat no animal foods get twice the protein that they need. Since you are young, you do not need to worry about dying from heart attacks, strokes or cancer. If you eat too much carbs or fats, your body can store it as fat. It cannot store protein so it breaks it down creating many toxins bad for health. Meat has protein and calcium but does not have an abundance of vitamins and minerals like vitamin C. With too little vitamin C, you can get scurvy-- a disease. There are thousands of phytochemicals that are only in plant foods. Over 900 have been identified. They help you to be healthy and fight off different diseases. The most famous ones are resveratrol in red grapes, lycopene in tomatoes and curcumin in tumeric. See the article on this page about protein and what is wrong with too much. Americans do not have osteoporosis due to a lack of calcium or a lack of ice cream. Ice cream contains loads of calcium. There are places where they eat a lot less calcium and have no osteoporosis. The problem is that people with osteoporosis have lots of calcium in their urine. That article explains why eating excess protein puts all that calcium in your urine. The animals with the closest body structure to us are chimps and apes. Most of them eat no meat, fish, foul, eggs or milk (as adults). But a 70 pound monkey (eating mostly fruit) is much stronger than you are. If you watch videos of monkeys and gorillas, monkeys are up in the trees a lot but gorillas live on the ground and are very relaxed and peaceful. They do not have to worry about other animals, like tigers, going after them like you do. Here is a way that people greatly reduced them being attacked by tigers. They wear a mask on the back of their head. Tigers attack people from behind and the mask fools them. Hyenas will attack lions to steal their food, but will not go near gorillas. It's no conincedence that muscley dudes almost always eat a lot of eggs, fish, and most of the time meats... A good steak after a work-out is great, and I'm sure that my "feeling/hunch" that it's what my body needs for most effective muscle growth and recouperation is not just a placebo. I am already "no milk/fish/lactose".. so trying to get all that protein from other sources would be difficult unless I start drinking those whey powdered milk-shakes. However I am serious about cutting down my meat consumption and trialing fruit/vedge/nuts one day a week. I started today. Pstachio nuts for breakfast. Oranges, blueberries, cranberries, and macedonia nuts for lunch. And I'll be eating carrots tonight - maybe fried in olive oil with some garlic. I'm expecting there will be some disgestive disfunction - but I'm happy to accept that. My body will be totally unprepared for fruit/vedge/nuts on this scale because I'm eating what I'd normally eat in about 4 days in terms of this kind of food, but in one day. Also I've decided to make this also a day when I will conciously aim to drink 5+ glasses of water. I will also do this once a week on the same day as my no-meat thing.
