Ok, maybe i am over reacting a little bit.. but it is how I feel right now. i have been able not to drink diet coke for a few months now, and I am feeling great normally. Saturday I was home alone and was in the mood for movie night. So I got some diet coke and chips and had a great time... couldnīt really sleep very well afterwards, but was still ok. yesterday however I had to get up early and drive 2 hours one way, and later 2 hours back. So, on the way back I decided to buy some diet coke, and drank a small bottle (0,5 l) Later at home I had another glas of diet coke... (yes, this stuff is addictive to me.. even writing this I want to go out and get more!). Now, today, I feel horrible! I feel disconnected, I feel as if I am locked inside my body. I am nervous, feel shaky... feel a need for my next fix. I have this vague notion in my head that if I just have another sip or glas of diet coke, I would feel better... Of course I hardly slept last night, which doesnīt help... I just cannot seem to calm down. Meditation helps, for as long as I am meditating... but my entire body feels shaky... Hopefully another night will fix things again between me and my body. So... kind warning to everybody out there.... If you managed to kick the habit of diet coke.. donīt start again!!! Not even for one or 2 glasses!! |

when i was in my teens before i worried about sugar...i drank the fully leaded cokes....all day, every day. i only did it for a short time...and just stopped because i knew it wasn't good for me....drank soda reg and diet on and off during the years and just don't like soda or fizzy drinks much at all...except club soda or tonic. maybe you should wean off and do decaf coke, then wean off that. you are lucky you did not get headaches when you stopped. |

I did go off slowly. From 4 diet coke + 2 coffee a day, slowly 1 less a day, untill nothing. Just that for some reason I decided to have "just one", and ended up drinking almost 1L in 1 day... I guess this is like alcohol for alcoholics... not even one.. because it never stays at just one. (odly enough I do not have this problem with regular coke, where I can just have half a glas or a few sips from my husband). |

They have decaf coffee but is all the caffeine taken out? If it is done wrong and there is still a lot left, how much can you sue them for. So what does this have to do with your diet Coke. Diet Coke contains a plant that is not in any other food. It contains the coca leaves. That is what has cocaine in it. But officially all the cocaine is taken out of the leaves that is in Coke. What if they did it wrong or not 100%? Then there is still some left. If you look up the coca plant, you see that one company in the U.S. is allowed to import it-- the Stepan Company of Maywood, New Jersey. Coca - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia They use it to make cocaine-like drugs for drug companies and sell it to Coca-cola with the cocaine taken out of it. Also the fake sugar can create symptoms that appear like some diseases. But fake sugar is in all the Diet sodas. So try drinking some other diet sodas like Dr Pepper and see if you have the same symptoms. If not ,then you can take your diet Coke to a lab to be tested for cocaine. Then if they find some, they will not tell you. They will contact Coca-cola company that will offer them $5 million to not mention it and they will take it and live in luxury the rest of their lives. A diet soda tastes sweet without sugar. Coke taste like coca leaves but without the cocaine. Last edited by ginkgo; 08-31-2009 at 08:57 PM. |

There were periods in my life where the only cold liquid I drank was soda, and beer. I was addicted to coffee too.... several cups a day. Tried to cut back several times. Eventually I cut down to two 16 oz cups, and now I'm at one 16 oz cup. I don't think I toss and turn in my sleep as much as I did when I was fully-caffeinated. |

I do not drink coffee but am investigating it. Coffee is the highest source of anti-oxidants that there is. How do you like it when I say something and do not give a source? It is a nasty thing to do. The exact word for word quote is "Coffee is the number-one source of disease-fighting anti-oxidants in our society." What is the source? I will do a search and see if I see the source. This is a quote of Oprah's doctor Oz in Health Magazine, September 2009. It has vegan Alicia Silverock on the cover. I got her name wrong. Her name is Alicia Silverstone. I guess that mistake made me sound clueless. The word for word quote search yielded no results, but I see where Dr Oz got this info: Coffee Is No. 1 Source of Antioxidants This article explains that it is not saying that coffee is the highest source of antioxidants pound for pound. It is based on the amount of things that people use. Last edited by ginkgo; 08-31-2009 at 09:21 PM.

I don´t believe in evil coorporations... diet coke is bad for me, yes, but it is my own lack of self control that made me drink 1,5 l in 2 days, they didn´t make me. Own responsability and stuff like that. I´m also not American maybe that is the reason that suing people / companies does not seem like a resonsable thing to do? What country are you from? Are you too ashamed of it to say what country it is. If you steal, will they cut off your hand? Are women not allowed to get education, work, drive a car or beg for money in your country? In some countries it is more respectable to set someone on fire or kill them than to sue them. Maybe Coca-Cola is allowed to leave the cocaine in their sodas in some countries! The upper right hand corner of this post has my location.

hmmm are you sure you are not high on something? If youīd wanted to you could have found out my country very very easily in several posts... it is Belgium for the moment... I just commented on the not being American thing, not because if have any negative feelings towards the country, but because it seems that yours is a culture that feels it is ok to blame people and make them pay (pay being the opperative word) by suing them. Iīm just not in that mind set, so it seems completely alien to me. Thank you for showing me the right spelling. Iīll change it in the original post.

Aspartame is the worst part of diet Coke. Look up the history of aspartame and how it came to be approved, without a shred of evidence of its safety, thanks to the then-CEO of GD Searle, Donald Rumsfield, and his buddy Ronald Reagan.

I was a diet coke addict too and I gained 24 pounds within that time I am really sure that the diet coke was the cause of the weight gain, because before I started drinking it my weight didn´t change for years, but only two years later I had nearly 25 pounds more on my hips. Now I am 1,5 years off diet coke and I didn´t gain more weight,in fact I lost 3 or 4 pounds It´s not easy to abandon the habit of drinking it,so I suggest to find a replacement for it. I started to drink coffee instead of sodas and even if it has a huge amount of caffeine it´s still better than drinking diet coke and stuff. Last edited by coffegirl; 09-01-2009 at 03:35 PM. |

I find diet soda's to be dangerous, mostly because people think that ordering a diet soda will help with their weight problem. Years ago I remember working at McDonalds and seeing people order two double big mac meals...and then add they want a diet coke because they are watching their weight. I had to bite my tongue to not tell them that the diet coke they ordered was more unhealthy than the big macs they also ordered. My philosophy is that if you are going to order soda, then unless you specifically like the taste of the diet versions, then you might as well get the regular sugar-filled version. I, myself used to be a big pepsi and Dr Pepper addict, sometimes consuming a 2 liter bottle in a day. Nowadays, I might order a coke if I go to McDonalds (that and of itself is a rarity), but for now if I want a fizz fix, I stick to Perrier mineral water. And if I want something sweet to drink, I'll pick up some pure fruit juice |

Some aspartame critics, particularly those in weight loss communities, claim that aspartame contributes to weight gain and obesity due to purported spikes in the insulin level. The argument holds that aspartame causes the body to secrete excess insulin even though aspartame is non-caloric. If true, this could lead to insulin resistance, weight gain, and possibly type II diabetes -- health outcomes that consumers may be trying to prevent by using diet foods and sodas. However, recent studies have shown that aspartame does not increase glucose nor insulin blood levels and cannot be directly linked to insulin resistance or diabetes.
