well, i work in healthcare....and while all of those 5 suggestions are worthy...
another one would be basic good handwashing technique....not touching public doorknobs, facucet handles etc. with paper towel when able. and if you do...avoid mucus membrane contact (mouth, eyes, nose)

but the studies about autism are not proven. guillian barre is rare....for some people it is hereditary. you can feel a little under the weather...if symptoms are worse, they are temporary.

one is asked to fill out a questionaire before getting the flu shot...so any pertinent medical hx that may affect an individual is noted.

if anyone is unsure...rather than stand in line at a grocery store...see your physician first.

i guess i was thinking along the lines of the battle of vaccinating or not children for anything due to fear of autism.

again, pros and cons which everyone has to make themselves aware before personally making that decision, whether it be flu shot for themselves....and seek guidance from their healthcare providers and the info available before making that decision for their children.

That study is really debatable, as little proof has come to prove it causes autism. Not to mention there is very little thimerosal in a shot, that it is unlikely to cause bad or even any damage to the brain. Autism is even less likely as autism is caused by bad 'wiring' in the brain, and is usually present at birth, not caused by some tiny amounts of thimerosal.

In another note, there is a ban on vaccines with thimerosal in the US or any of the EU states. So, even if there is any solid proof of thimerosal causing autism, vaccines will not put any of it under your skin. Relax.

If only it were so. According to the CDC's vaccine excipient list, thimerosal is still used as a preservative in some multi-dose containers for vaccines such as DTap, DTaP-Hib, DT, Td, Hib, etc. etc.

swine flu, any flu, kills more people than we all realize sometimes...

people SHOULD relax...no one is being forced to take a flu shot, regular or swine.

vaccinations and inoculations for one's children is a personal issue... parents just have to deal with what their children will be exposed to and what schools require for entrance.

flu shot isn't one of them.

Mercola is wrong. Vaccinations CAN save lives, if it's the appropriate vaccine in the right situation.

Mercola needs to read up on the flu of 1912-1918. They had no flu vaccine back then, and estimates put deaths at 50 million or more.

The flu does kill people every year. It's not some new idea invented this year just to sell some company's vaccines. This variation of h1n1 is serious, spreads easier, stays on inanimate objects longer, and is higher risk to kids & elderly.

Guillain-Barré is *extremely* rare. When you treat millions of millions of people with something, you're bound to have one or two with a bad reaction. Would you rather have something 1:1,000,000 people might get (the reaction to a vaccine) or something that's known to be fatal which affects 1:5 or :10?

Nobody is being forced to get the vaccination. Those who are suggested to get it are only those who are most likely get very sick or die.

Please talk to your own family doctor if aren't sure about vaccinations risks & benefits. Vaccinations aren't scary... and they do save lives.

It wasn't so rare back during the 1976 Swine Flu vaccine debacle. More people died or got GBS from the vaccine than died from the flu. I suspect something similar will happen with this flu vaccine push. But like always, the manufacturers are set to make a bundle!

My uncle doesn't get any vaccines at all, but his daughter (my cousin) was forced to get them because otherwise they wouldn't let her attend school.
