I'm doing natural things to build up my HCl levels, such as eating more green juices and smoothies and more salty veggies, but I still think I'd benefit from a supplement, at least for now. I just don't know where to find a raw supplement? I know that Garden for Life has many raw supplements and they do have digestive supps but no specific HCl one.

What do you mean by HCl levels? Your body doesn't normally have lots of hydrochloric acid. The only place where HCl is concentrated is the stomach. HCl may be produced in the gastric glands of the stomach, triggered by hormones such as gastrin. The HCl is made as needed, so you should not need to take any sort of supplement. And you definitely don't want to be drinking chemicals in the hopes of it forming hydrochloric acid on its own on the way down. What makes you think you need more HCl production? |

Put 2 tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and add raw honey to it. Then drink that before eating a meal and that should help. Please note that if you do this, you will not be eating your mother. You will be eating the mother. That is what they call the good bacteria in it-- the mother.

I have candida yeast and I know that that interferes with HCl production... also, my food does not seem totally digested on the "way out" Thanks for the raw apple cider vinegar suggestion-- its not a bad idea and I may incorporate it, but I really feel the need for some direct HCl. After looking, I guess I can conclude that it doesn't come in raw form.. |

ShinyGlass, if this helps, my nutritionist recommended a brand called Premier Research Labs. The name is Quantum Betaine HCL. I bought a bottle from naturalhealthyconcepts.com. It is beet-derived, not synthetic, which may be the closest you will get to raw. It does say "vegan" on the bottle. Hope this helps! -Erica |
