I stumbled upon a video on YouTube saying hemp oil can cure cancer, I'm sure some of you have heard about it, it was a big federal case a few years ago, in Nova Scotia, the guy who discovered it was curing people left and right until he got arrested for being a "drug dealer". His name was Rick Simpson. Anyway, I researched hemp oil that you can buy (I think it's actually hemp SEED oil though, which isn't the same thing, or is it?) and I was wondering if that would have the same effect (probably not but it can't hurt to ask! |

Hemp seed oil is not the same as the oil Rick talks about. The oil Rick refers to is from the full grown female marijuana plant. There are two forms of the marijuana plant: The male plant - This is good for hemp clothing, rope, hemp seed oil and new seed stock The Female plant - This is good for the psychotropic elements (drug/medical use) The female plant is the one that produces the required THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), this is the substance that gets you high. He processes the plant after it's fully grown and ready for harvest. This substance cannot be obtained from just seeds (the kind you buy in the store) which is where hemp seed oil is obtained. |

What Rick is doing is illegal (based on man made laws), the idiocy of marijuana being illegal can be debated for ever. You cannot buy it in any store in many countries, plus it would be way to costly. If you wish to pursue it, you will have to grow marijuana and process it yourself (THIS IS ILLEGAL in many countries). This is what Rick is doing. I'm only speaking to what Rick is doing. The dose Rick suggests will not get you high per-say (in the conventional sense). Did you watch his video on processing it? There is a video on his website. For other information on store bought hemp seed oil search Google or here is an article. I'm sure this will have some benefits as well, but it's not the same substance that Rick is using and that is what you originally asked about. Think of it this way: Hemp = Male plant - This will not get you high Marijuana = Female plant - This is what rick is using and will get you high if smoked or used in making butter for example, in Ricks method and small dosage, it should not get you "high" in the conventional sense (but could). Rick extracts the THC crystals from the buds or flowers of the female plant if you will. Most people who use marijuana just smoke this portion to get high. Both sexes of the plant are considered illegal. Both are useful as explained in my previous post.

Hemp is NOT proven to cure cancer nor anything else that I know of, in any scientific study. Hempseeds are edible and have good values for things such as protein, so eat it if you like the taste. My health food store has hemp seeds, hemp milk, and other hemp-based food products. But understand that hemp is usually grown for its fiber, not for food. When I think of hemp, I think of rope, canvas, and paper. Hemp and marijuana are the same species of plant, but not the same variety. The difference is they were selectively bred for different uses (fiber content vs THC). It's not true one is male and one is female, and crossing a hemp plant to marijuana plants is not desirable. Prevlink.org - Get the Facts - Hemp VS Marijuana The only way I can figure they jumped from hemp to cancer is medical marijuana, perhaps? But even medical marijuana does NOT cure cancer. It helps with pain and lack of appetite, in conjunction with regular cancer treatments, but it's not a cure by itself. |

| Well it was pretty damn convincing, it isn't very likely that sweet elderly people would knowingly lie to the public like that. But like I said, i'm not trying to get a cure for cancer, I just want to know if hemp seed oil is indeed as good as I've heard because THAT is what I want (since it's legal).

| Cannabis chemicals may help fight prostate cancer | Health | Reuters Cannabis chemicals may help fight prostate cancer Wed Aug 19, 2009 2:22am EDT By Ben Hirschler LONDON (Reuters) - Chemicals in cannabis have been found to stop prostate cancer cells from growing in the laboratory, suggesting that cannabis-based medicines could one day help fight the disease, scientists said Wednesday. After working initially with human cancer cell lines, Ines Diaz-Laviada and colleagues from the University of Alcala in Madrid also tested one compound on mice and discovered it produced a significant reduction in tumor growth. Their research, published in the British Journal of Cancer, underlines the growing interest in the medical use of active chemicals called cannabinoids, which are found in marijuana. Experts, however, stressed that the research was still exploratory and many more years of testing would be needed to work out how to apply the findings to the treatment of cancer in humans. "This is interesting research which opens a new avenue to explore potential drug targets but it is at a very early stage," said Lesley Walker, director of cancer information at Cancer Research UK, which owns the journal. "It absolutely isn't the case that men might be able to fight prostate cancer by smoking cannabis," she added The cannabinoids tested by the Spanish team are thought to work against prostate cancer because they block a receptor, or molecular doorway, on the surface of tumour cells. This stops them from dividing. In effect, the cancer cell receptors can recognize and "talk to" chemicals found in cannabis, said Diaz-Laviada. "These chemicals can stop the division and growth of prostate cancer cells and could become a target for new research into potential drugs to treat prostate cancer," she said. Her team's work with two cannabinoids -- called methanandamide and JWH-015 -- is the first demonstration that such cannabis chemicals prevent cancer cells from multiplying. Some drug companies are already exploring the possibilities of cannabinoids in cancer, including British-based cannabis medicine specialist GW Pharmaceuticals. It is collaborating with Japan's Otsuka on early-stage research into using cannabis extracts to tackle prostate cancer -- the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men -- as well as breast and brain cancer. GW has already developed an under-the-tongue spray called Sativex for the relief of some of the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, which it plans to market in Europe with Bayer and Almirall. Other attempts to exploit the cannibinoid system have met with mixed success. Sanofi-Aventis was forced to withdraw its weight-loss drug Acomplia from the market last year because of links to mental disorders. (Editing by Simon Jessop) |

Anyway it does not matter, she was asking about Rick's oil and hemp seed oil. They are not the same substance. Another great movie about marijuana that can be found online is called: The Union, the business behind getting high explains alot about the crop.
