Default So I went to a raw potluck in Vancouver

After hearing Steve mention the raw potlucks he was going to, I decided I had to see what I was missing. And I was missing a lot! Everyone has got to attend one of these events at least once. I found the group in Vancouver on meetup.com. Their next potluck fell on my birthday, so I decided to take my family there (even my parents who are not vegetarian in the slightest).

It took place on the beach and there were well over 30 people in attendance. All the food was laid out on blankets or on picnic tables and people were standing or sitting on blankets eating and chatting. We got there late so a lot of the good raw stuff was gone, but there was still some great vegan salads to choose from. At 25, I was one of the younger people there. I did, however, meet a really cute girl near my age, so it was all good

The people were SUPER friendly and welcoming. You can pretty much start a conversation with anybody by asking "so what did you bring?" It was somehow leaked to the organizer that it was my birthday and they all sang happy birthday to me. Then the funniest thing happened. The girl next to me whispered "Don't tell them, but it's my birthday too". I didn't spill the beans, but unfortunately for her, her friend turned her in shortly.

In addition to the food and people, they told us about some talks and workshops happening in the next few months on healthy lifestyles. Meet more positive, health conscious people? Yes please!

Here are some pictures of what I made. I made Steve's raw pie recipe using peaches and blueberries for the filling, a corn and bean salad (not technically raw because of the beans), and my dad made a salad which was unable to rival mine

Yes, raw potlucks are so much fun. Nice people and yummy food. Dan, your food looks great!

Usually there are always different people that attend these, so you may find more closer to your age the more you go.
